hi guys, first time on this board but been on others. been on a debt managemen plan for 3 years. ive 3 debts with mbma, halifax and barclaycard. 2 of them have stopped charging interest but barclaycard insist on charging me interest of about 10%. ive asked cccs to stop charging interest and ive asked them ove rthe phone but with no joy. has anyone else had any problems with barclaycard and any suggestions.
thanks
Hi Geeka
Get the template letters on this site about stopping interest and get posting! CCCS can only ask on your behalf, it's up to you to try and chase this and keep at it. In my experience, it's really hit and miss which creditors will stop interest, but you've just got to keep at it. Get your case and situation across to them.DFD February 2012

Dear Sir/Madam
Account No: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Thank you for your letter of DD-MM-YYYY concerning the above account. We are sorry that you feel unable
to suspend interest charges on the above account. The majority of our other creditors have agreed to the offer
of payment and agreed to suspend any interest charges still accruing. They have accepted that to continue to
charge interest would not assist us in our present financial difficulties, and can only serve to increase our total
debt.
As you are aware, we have already paid considerable sums in interest to our account. If interest charges
continue, the monthly instalments we are paying will not even cover that interest. Also, the cooperation of our
other creditors who have agreed to freeze interest already would be put at risk.
We would therefore be grateful if you would reconsider your decision not to freeze the interest. This would
mean that the monthly payments we make would actually reduce the balance outstanding to your company.
We look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.
Yours faithfully

Came home today to a porch full of mail. Mainly from cooperative bank telling me to call them to discuss repayment options and to return my debit card and cheque book. Lots of threats of impact on credit file (errr, I know!
.. and telling me all about the disadvantages of me losing premier account bundle perks. Also a default from Santander.
I just filed them in my DMP folder, will return cheque book etc. It was the coop's bank charges resulting from going OD by a couple of pound that really broke the camel's back. I feel such anger towards them. :mad:Second and final LBM 01/01/11 Nearly got there but fell of wagon. HAVE to do it this time :mad:0 -

I haven't bothered returning any of my cards as the accounts are all frozen, so they're sitting in my kitchen cupboard in pieces. I figure if they want them - they can pay the postage as they're no good to anyoneLBM: 22.12.2010 :j Self-managed DMP start 29.1.2011DMP Mutual Support Thread No: 4130 -
I'm only sticking a 1st class stamp on, they'll have to pay the excess postage if it's not enough! I've got to send in a no calls letter anyway as they keep calling my mobile.Second and final LBM 01/01/11 Nearly got there but fell of wagon. HAVE to do it this time :mad:0

Hi
No, never even had one on contract. Was always pay as you go until about 2 years ago. Tried applying, but was turned down. My husband was only able to get one too on T Mobile for me. We were turned down by O2.

I did not think phone companies checked your credit rating. I get my phones from Dialaphone and on their website it clearly states no credit checks. My understanding is if you don't pay you will be disconnected.
Hope this has helped.

LBM April 2010. DMP Start June 2010 - 11% of debt paid at June 11 to 11 creditors

Well, we started the DMP process in October, first payment made Dec 1st. We have around 20 creditors, the nightmares to deal with have been:
* Barclays Partner Finance and Barclaycard - complete incompetence and just denial that they've received any paperwork (sent three times now). Still charging interest and default charges of way more than our small monthly payments to them.
* Argos - incompetence / denial
* MBNA - they said straight away that they would not accept our offers. All we have had since are the repeated statements with % and defaults charged.
Everyone else has been great - most particularly Halifax, Cap One, Mint. I found the people at these places really easy to talk and happy to explain the process etc. I would say that overall the creditors haven't been that scary to deal with.
I would also say that we're less stressed by the debt and it feels in control (although huge).
But we are finding our DMP incredibly hard to live on, really, really tough. We are now selling the last bits and pieces we can as we need to just to eat. This is scary particularly as our DMP goes on for years and years.
I did have a question that someone I'm sure could help with - I am currently job-hunting and feeling optimistic about working soon, when I do get work will the amount that we are left to live on on the DMP effectively remain the same and everything I earn go straight to the DMP?0 -
Home phone or mobile phone?
I couldn't get a mobile phone in my name, my husband got me one in his name. And home phone - i've never had a problem switching suppliers with any utilities.
Hi this is a mobile phone I want to swich to Tesco. £50 pund gift card 1000 club card points and as I work for them 20% off.
I think I might try.
Cheers all.Debt Free No. 403

I don't know how it works, but seems strange that your mobile phone contract appears on your credit report?DMP mutual support thread No: 2430
