  • Hi

Just a quick question does being on a dmp plan alter the way phone companies look at you. Basically I want to switch from vodaphone to tesco to save money but I dont know if its worth looking at as my credit file will be not that good. Any advise would be grateful.

    Cheers

[QUOTE=I had my annual review (which are not scary in the least..i alwasy feel so much better after one) last week, and payplan told me what will happen in the next 6-8 month because i am coming to the end of my plan. They will contact me and the creditors to get upto date ballances because not everything shown at paypal is spot on due to interest ect that wasnt stopped straight away at begining of plan. Payplan told me they dont keep asking for upto date ballance as there is no need until near the end of the plan, they will then begin on my behalf trying to get the remaining debts written off or reduced.
I completly truest my dmp and its the best thing i ever did, especially when i look at the situation im now in with lose of money through hubbys work/injury, and am so glad i faced up and delt with the debt when i did.

    Hi dlb

I'm about the same as you, been with Payplan for 5 years, my plan was due to finish this month, but due to added interest by lloyds etc, it will be another 13 months. I don't mind though, I knew it was going to be longer.
Just one thing though, Payplan didn't get anything written off for me. I couldn't even get a straight answer if they had contacted the creditors. So just wanted to let you know, coz we were always hoping that we'd get some of the added interest written off.
If they are successful with you though, could you let me know, coz I don't know now if this is just something they say, rather than do.
Thanks! And good luck and well done!:T

    Home phone or mobile phone?
I couldn't get a mobile phone in my name, my husband got me one in his name. And home phone - i've never had a problem switching suppliers with any utilities.

I had no trouble setting up a new mobile phone contract in my name. Maybe it depends on the type of phone or contract?

Started my DMP sept 08, got phone contract Aug 09.

True, and most of our debts were in my name, as is alot of the defaults. So I suppose it also depends on how bad your credit file is. Mine is obviously rubbish!!!!:(

    Hi

Payplan do try to get some of the debt written off towards the end on your DMP, but this is obviously dependant on creditors replying to us and agreeing to it. We cannot guarantee it, but we do try for all of our clients, we couldn't say that we were if we weren't.

    Thanks

    Thanks Lizzy

I couldn't seem to find out from my representative. It's just that I have around 12 creditors on my dmp, and didn't hear from any of them about being asked to reduce/write off interest. Nor was I contacted by Payplan to say that they had even tried, or that they had and none of the creditors agreed. I was just given a new debt free date. I just expected to hear something about it when the plan came to an end, as I was constantly told to wait until the end of the plan before I start questioning all the added interest over the past 5 years.

    Hi

No, never even had one on contract. Was always pay as you go until about 2 years ago. Tried applying, but was turned down. My husband was only able to get one too on T Mobile for me. We were turned down by O2.
