Hi all, Good news regarding interest being increased by Santander. I posted on the "without a paddle" thread too and it seems that they cannot just up the interest, so I will be pursuing that.... knowledge is power!!!!!
HH - no news on the job front yet, still waiting for a reply after my interview but working on "no news is good news"
I was sorry to hear about the predicament that you guys who work in banks are having. You have my sympathies, it must be a terrible strain on you to have to go into work and open up to colleagues about your situation but fingers crossed that they will be sympathetic towards you.:o
Nothing much else happening my end at the moment which is quite un-nerving in a way:o
Take care all

I'm so cross!! OH came back last night and asked if he could have money to go out for a meal and drinks with his mates!!! He knows we have zero cash and he has to ask me so it makes me feel bad by having to say no. He does it all the time and its really getting to me now. I just had to say to him he could have the money if he didn't want to eat next week or if he doesn't want any diesel for his car. Why doesn't he get it?
On another note, does anyone have any experience of approaching MBNA and telling them about financial difficulties? On their website it says they have a 3 step plan and will consider lower payments.0 -
Helena
I have two cards with MBNA, they werent very helpful on the phone and I thought they would be the most problematic. Two days after receiving the first Payplan payment, I received a letter stating they do not accept my DMP, however they will stop interest and charges as long as they receive my DMP payment! Which sounds a lot like they have actually accepted it, true to their word statements now show no interest or charges.
Good luck.0 -
I really feel like having a good cry at the moment. I feel so stuck. Having problems because work will only let me have wages paid into their account and because this is where 2 overdrafts and a credit card are they could use the whole setting off thing against me if they wanted or just close the overdrafts down as soon as they get wind of a DMP leaving me with no money because it'll all be swallowed up by paying them off. OH is not supportive at all and seems to think I can magic money out of thin air whenever he needs it. Car needs service and MOT next month, OH car needs tax next month, he's agreed to pay £130 to council tax arrears and has just announced that his mobile bill is nearly £100 next month. He just can't understand that we have no money and there is nowhere to get anymore money from. I'm always made to feel like the bad guy because I'm the one who is trying to sort it all out and hold onto the purse strings. There just doesn't seem to be a way out. I want to run away and hide.0

Proud to be dealing with my debts
DFD - June '13, aiming for December '120 -
Hello everyone.
I am after advice as myself and my husband are attempting to do our own DMP after coming away from the CCCS.
At the moment we have a £13000 debt with Lloyds TSB Loans which is currently with Moorecroft Debt Recovery. We pay them £190.70 a month
We have a £2000 debt with Marks and Spencer &More Card and we're paying them £69.80
and we have a £2000 debt with Lloyds TSB Card and we're paying them £61.16
We have contacted all our creditors/DCA and they are more then happy to deal with us directly, only both the credit cards have now told us that the payments we're making through the DMP are now exceeding the minimum payments for each month so we no longer need to be on a DMP, but we can carry on paying them as we are, but they won't be asking for increased payments or SOAs if that makes any sense.
So my question is to I just carry on paying the credit cards and DCA as normal or do I have to send the DCA a new SOA?0 -
I'm filling in the pre-printed letters CCCS have sent me to send off to my creditors regarding the DMP. Is it best to send them signed for etc and which address should I send them to??0
-
Hi All
Well Ive just rung Payplan and in a way I feel a bit I dunno bit of relief but feel as if nothings changed if that makes sense. All she really did was doublecheck what I had put on the site and said they were getting a pack sent out in the post to me with templates of letters and an Income and Expenditure to send to my creditors. Does this sound about right? I thought that I may be asked loads of questions and things. In a way I dunno whether I should of asked more questions but I was a bit in shock that I was actually trying to get it sorted. Whats everyone think?? xx0 -

I wish I was able to give you solid advice re:your bank account. You really do need to avoid the 'setting off' trap. It sounds a bit dodgy to me that you are forced to use the bank account by your employer (even if you work for them.) Would check this out with CCCS soon as possible and see if they can advise. Normally you would hot foot it to a 'neutral' account.
Seems like you need to sit down with your OH, have a good talk and explain to him about the 'money tree.' It's Autumn now and the leaves are falling
It's a terrible shock to begin with if you've been living on credit to get by. It never seems like 'real money' does it? Sounds like you're trying to get it all together but he needs to understand that money is a finite resource and your lifestyle will have to change if you're to face up to these debts. You will have a fair but restricted budget to live on whilst on a DMP. It's tough but do-able. However, you really do need to be pulling in the same direction to make it work.
Nil desparadum and all that! It's always so tough at the beginning and worse for you because of your employment.
Stick with us kid - it will come right in the end.

Got offered a few extra bits at work (it all helps!) and after the yearly PP review(which was really ok), and the added on interest on 2 of our cards, I felt really down for a couple of weeks. Don't know why.
However, to help ease your mind, you have to put yourself in anothers' shoes, I think, so I will try my best to join in more, sorry work has overtaken everything at the mo.
Hope everyone is coping ok,
