    Hello all,

Just to report that, while I was in the middle of writing the "debt sold whilst in dispute" letter I actually had a doorstep visit - about 15 minutes ago!

I did answer the door and bloke was absolutely huge! Wearing a shirt with a "resolvecall" logo - as if I had any doubt! And he had a clipboard!

Anyway, I put on my best assertive voice and told him that I did not want to discuss this matter on the doorstep and that the account was in dispute! He just said "OK" - and that he was obliged to give me the notice telling me about my arrears!

I am still shaking while I type this - but at least I know what it feels like!

Question is, do I still send the "account sold...." letter or is there something stronger I can use? Considering that the notification arrived after 4 p.m. yesterday and the bloke turned up at 12:45 doesn't exactly give much time to pay them! Not that I had any intention of doing that!

Overall, I think I am quite pleased at the way I acted - still can't get over how big he was!

Ann leave this for now and email me their letter and a brief thing of what happened today (inc times) - i'll sort this for you on Monday and take it from there. I'll sort you the best letter to date! Grrrr - i'm as mad as you are! Cheeky sods have no right to do that!

BUT, well done to you - see how easy it is to tell them the law, i'm glad he didn't try and intimidate you! If it happens again and they catch you on the back foot then if anything you have my number don't you?

I'm annoyed, for you Ann.... they will not be doing that again - I promise you that!

Well done you Ann. That must have been awful for you. I thought doorstep people were ficticious characters to frighten people into paying, I didn't realise they were real people!

I'm sure Niddy will sort this for you as he says, but I'm glad you were able to deal with the situation effectively :j

    Enormous thanks, Niddy!

Will get the letter scanned and emailed - plus the one the bloke left! But, I am not going to do it until tomorrow - you need your weekend break!

I have to say that the only thing intimidating about him was his size! He hardly said anything - don't think I gave him the opportunity! He just asked my name and told me where he was from (which I could see from the stupid logo). I then interrupted him and said that I had no intention of talking to him and that the account was in dispute! He just said "Ok then" and gave me the letter - then he drove off!

However, if it wasn't for this web site - and especially you and your help - think I would have disintegrated!

Am now wondering what their Plan B would be? Surely these doorstep people will get more aggressive? (Not that I wanted him to!) Perhaps it is my age that made him back off - but I didn't think I looked THAT old! Perhaps he is a trainee?

Anyway, I am glad I answered the door because if I had kept avoiding him I would have got more worried about how often they would keep coming back. And at least I know what it feels like now - I think I just reacted when I answered the door! And then couldn't wait to get on the forum and report it - except I was shaking a bit and found it hard to type!

Still can't get over his size - he made pub bouncers look scrawny! Except he is probably getting bigger with each message I type!

Am impressed about how cool I am after this!

    Hi Ann

I hope you are ok after that. I've read your story from the beginning but never posted before and I even feel shaky just hearing about it.

Glad Niddy was around with support straightaway though.
Sounds like you coped well whilst he was there and so glad he went away.

I do hope you are ok, I really do and you will have plenty more support when all the other regulars come online.
    Best wishes

    Thanks Chatty,

You are right - at leasst I know what it feels like!

Actually he was very polite and backed off very easily! Don't think they are all like that, though!

    But he was HUGE!

    Thanks for this Hamstan,

Actually, it was Niddy's advice which made me able to cope! I just went on to automatic pilot!

I couldn't wait to get on to the forum to tell everyone - problem was, it was difficult to type at first, because I did shake a bit!

Actually, I got more upset with the argument with the neighbour earlier in the week.

DCA bloke was far more polite!
