I got called by these people today and asked them where they'd got my number and was told they'd got my number from public records, which is very strange as I'm ex-directory. The guy apologised and said that seeing as he'd got hold of me would I mind answering some questions. He started to ask me questions like my age and whether I was employed and I asked him who the company were and what they wanted the information for. He just kept repeating the name of the company and said that the information was for the company. When I asked him what they were going to use the information for (I had to do this several times before he gave me an answer) he told me they weren't going to use the information for anything, so I asked what the point of collecting the information was. He tried to persuade me again to answer his questionnaire, so I told him I don't give my information to just anyone, especially when I don't know who they are, and that it seemed like a waste of both our time for him to collect information that no-one was going to use.
He bid me a good night and slammed the phone down in frustration.
I somehow think I'll not be hearing from them again.0 -
We have been recieving calls from these people for weeks. They keep asking for a Mr Mistry. The address they have for us is incorrect and I've never heard of a Mr Mistry! I refused to answer their questions and kept hanging up on them. They rang again whilst my husband was in and he decided to play along, confirming the incorrect information they held on us was correct! After answering the questions, they asked if he minded them passing on our details. He said he did mind and that he did not wish to be contacted by any other company. After questioning him again the Asian sounding lady hung up.
2 minutes later her superior rang up and tried to persuade my husband to agree to the passing on of information stating that he would never hear from them again if he did. He stood his ground and refused...
2 days later we recieved a call from EDF based on the survey responses...
My husband passed the phone to our daughter who made up nonsense answers and then said we were already with EDF!
Just goes to show you can't trust these people one little bit!0 -
After 8 minutes, and amongst other things, trying to explain to the guy how a phone-line redirect works and that I was in France (wrong), I eventually managed to get the guy so annoyed he actually hung up on me! Ensuring he got the last words in too, he not-so-politely told me to "get lost" fractions of a second prior to his hang up.
I look forward to the next phone call(and we all know there will be one - they never learn! lol)

I too have been getting regular calls from this company. My husband sometimes works nights and on several occasions has asked them to stop calling, I took a call from them last week and asked who the survey was for and a very nervous gentleman put me through to a supervisor, who was unable to answer the question and became abusive when I refused to take part.
This week I have had another call where I remained calm but refused to take part in the survey and asked that they remove my details as husand sometimes works nights, to this the advisor ???? SANG down the phone I dont care, I dont care. I asked for a supervisor expecting him to hang up and he said the person you are trying to reach is unobtainable a couple of times. By this time I had him on loud speaker with several friends sitting around listening. A suposedly supervisor came on and said that "Derek" would be dealt with LOL.
These people are a complete waste of time and I may well resort to the whistle the next time they call...0 -
Nationwide Surveys - what a bunch of complete pillocks. I've had numerous calls from them always asking for "Mr Annan". Each time I tell them that no one by that name has ever had my phone number, or lived at my address and that I've never heard of himapart from their phonecalls. I also advise them to take my details from their system otherwise they will be contravening the Data Protection Act. Each time they tell me they've done it & lo and behold, a few weeks down the line, I get another call.
This time I asked to speak to a supervisor and told him that if he didn't remove my details then I would be contacting the Data Commissioner and that they would be facing a criminal prosecution.
It remains to be seen if I get another call because, believe you me, I will do it. Watch this space.....0 -
it seems these guys are still at it .....last night 'kevin' (yeah right) called and spoke with my partner who refused to assist in the survey and hung up, Kevin called back within 1 minute and I answered telling him my partner would not speak with him - 'kevin' is a persistant kinda guy - he continuoulsy repeated my partners name for about 3 minutes until i got bored - I started singing very badly down the phone, i think it was a kylie number, he persevered through that !! Brave guy - so realising he as still there parroting my partners name - I stuck the handset infront of the BBC news - i think they were talking about troubles in pakistan at the time - and let him hear the broadcast, when i went back to the phone - he had hung up! BUT, he then called a third time, at this point my blood was boiling, I did spell out that 3 calls in 15 minutes was harassment and that we would be taking this further, he still didn't give up, so i put him back in front of the tv, with a music channel on at volume number 36. He hung up ! I expect we will hear from these pests again, so i am off out to buy a whistle for days when I am not in a patient mood, but for calmer days, I will also take note of how others have dealt with it and just hang up as soon as they mention Nationwide Surveys. We called the operator to see if they could help, but without an originating telephone number they were unable to help, they did offer to put us through to' nuisance calls' but without a telephone number there little point really. I have to say I am glad I am not alone, elderley or 'fragile' as this kind of cold calling and rudeness would worry me. I have warned a few elderely and 'vulnerable' people I know of this mob and how they should avoid any conversation with them whatsoever.2010 wins: St Helier t-shirts, tarot ebook,Facemask,Tynchy CD,Sweetie bracelet, Bottle of Baileys, Book from Radox, Cadury Bliss Bar,£25 House of fraser, £30.00 HMV,Thank you to all who post :beer:0

Right. I am really unhappy about these people. Seems like they have my number now. NATIONWIDE surveys have just called me. I told them I was registered with TPS and they shouldn't be calling me. His aggressive reply was "what am i selling you, nothing - why can't you just listen to me." repeatedly.. I asked me his the full company address and phone number. He refused point blank to give any details. I said I was going to complain about the call as I was ex-directory & I needed his details. He kept saying , "call the Government of the UK then". What a totally rude, rude man. He wouldn't get off the phone and really hassled me. I agree with the other posts - what if I was elderly or vunerable? It is harrassment - they shouldn't be allowed to get away with it.
Anyway, I eventually hung up as wasn't getting any info off him. Needless to say, 10 minutes later they called again. (It comes up 'out of area' on my phone display). I didn't answer ....
WHAT CAN I DO?????0 -
Just spoke to BT Nuisance calls 0800 661 441 . They said when u dial 1471 and it says "we do not have the callers number to return the call" that means they are outside the UK and BT cannot help. He said these people do scams such as ask for your sort code, then call u later pretending to be your bank. He advised me not to answer my phone for a few days and they will stop. Keep answering and they think it's a good number as being answered by u all the time!
Now had 4 calls in 2 hours!!0 -
I just had one of these calls........been getting them for weeks and just keep hanging up.
This time the cheeky bu**er rang me straight back and asked me why I had hung up on him. Told me not to hang up on him again, when I told him I was not interested he told me where to go and hung up on me
Don't know whether this will be the last of them but does anyone know where I can complain0 -
We just got a call from these bloody idiots, I demanded contact details so I could report them to trading standards but the 'supervisor' I demanded to speak to did not have any contact details for nationwide surveys for whom which they were calling on behalf of. He told me they were based in Manchester but had no other information than that. When I demanded to speak to the supervisor's supervisor he told me there was no one available and that he would ensure we would not call again. High pressure tactics seem to work so just keep on demanding a manager and whoever is dealing with you I'll bottle it and cave. Very annoying. I will be seeking these nationwide survey pigs and swine and seeking to report whomsoever they are to trading standards, or at the very least bar the number from phoning anymore.Debt £30,823.48/£44,856.56 ~ 06/02/21 - 31.28% Paid OffMortgage (01/04/09 - 01/07/39)
