Telephone Survey. Nationwide Surveys?

• I've just had another phonecall from these people yet again.. this time from 'KEVIN'.

I asked him repeatedly who he worked for and he repeatedly told me he would take my number and name off the list... I wasn't happy with this since they've been harassing me for more than 2 weeks now and the other day even threatening to carry on the harassment until I completed their survey! In the end he gave me these details:

Tele Prospects Limited

Head Office
Ground Floor, West Wing
Waterloo House,
31 Waterloo Road
Wolverhampton
WV1 4DJ
Telephone : 01902 710 101

^ I don't know if anyone would be intrested in the details but I thought I'd let you all know:mad:

I contacted these people and spoke to a guy called James. He was very helpful, promised to remove me from his lists and said that, if it was their gang that contacted me today, then that guy would be sacked! Wow.

He said all of the right things about trying to be a good company etc and we shall see what transpires but he also said that there are several companies trading under the name of Nationwide Surveys so it may not have been them.

I'll keep you updated as to how things go.

How much information did you have to confirm to him to get him to agree to take you off the list? Name? - address? - they've already got your phone no.

They won't take you off the list - you're on there permanently - they're after even more info from you - and they'll sell what you've already given them (including the phone no.) on to similar scam merchants and fraudsters.
• Just had one too... very rude... she hung up when i started asking who they were!
• I had Kevin too. After much persuasion, he told me his name was Chuan, again from Nationwide surveys in manchester. I am from quite near there (he is, obviously, not) so I asked whereabouts. He got stroppy. Mind you, he was stroppy before that. My standard response is to get them off script and never let them settle. He told me all of my details (name, address, postcode) and I (wrongly) confirmed them. I never will again. He asked for my electricity and gas supplier (after saying that he would not ask for any personal info) and I said I would not give it to him. He repeatedly asked and i repeatedly refused. He told me that if I completed the survey then my number would be deleted and i would never hear from them again, but if I didn't i'd get more calls. I still refused. I gave him the address of Nationwide surveys in the US (I assume it is the parent company - I was at my PC at the time) and he got a bit rattled and eventually hung up. Mind you, the bit where he shouted at me "Its me doing the survey, not you!" was actually quite funny.

This is from their website:
Address:1215 Lakeport Lane
Corona, CA 92881
800.252.0640
951.278.0660
951.346.3198
info@nationwidesurveys.com

lets barrage their info email and see how they like it!

That's an American company with the same name - their website states that they operate in the US and canada.

I've had calls from the UK company too, and yesterday I was told that they'd only stop calling if I completed their survey. How does this differ from harassment? I'd be interested to know who they're doing that survey for, because I'm sure they'd be interested to know what sort of a company they've hired. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't just make up answers and save themselves the bother of phoning people. Back when I was younger and less busy I'd always make up the answers to these sorts of things anyway.

It's a shame that landlines are so primitive compared to mobiles. If a call comes through on my mobile with no number displayed I don't answer it, but that costs money for BT. The other solutions seem a bit crap too - you have to pay; you can add 10 numbers to a blacklist (great if you have their number, I guess) etc.

The TPS are no use, of course - as you'd expect by this sort of body (keep 'em quiet, pretend we're interested in helping consumers) - they don't stop calls from people undertaking surveys. When you complain to them they email you with a list to the Market Research Society, but they can't do anything about it either (good work, guys).

I wonder how many times they have to call before the police treat it as harrassment. If that's what it takes before BT do something about it then that's fine with me.
• I also just received a call from Nationwide Services which was just as rude. He refused to stop asking me questions, even though I said from the outset that I wouldn't sign up to anything. He said if I didn't answer the the survey they would keep ringing. His supervisor said the same thing!

I called the number posted by MassDestruct for Tele Prospects Ltd. They were very helpful and the guy even sighed when I told him why I was calling. They apparently shut down Nationwide Surveys 3 months ago and were surprised to find that they were still operating with customer details belonging to Tele Prospects Ltd. Anyway, he took my phone number and has promised to investigate and remove me from the main database. He's also going to pass this information to his Management Team to investigate how this company is still operating.

Interestingly, Nationwide Surveys had my name incorrect and it's the same mistake that BT use all the time. Tele Prospects Ltd confirmed that they did get some contact details from BT!
• I just received about my tenth call from these scumbags. But through pure luck it was only the first time I'd actually been in to accept the call. I usually dial 1471 when I get home to see if anyone had called. Usually I get a message telling me that it was a marketing call and requires no further response from me. Which is fair enough as they wouldn't get a response from me anyway.

However, today I was at home.

I took the call from some Indian sounding male, whose English was not very good. I decided to listen to his questions and answer falsely to everything he asked. Specifically answering NO to questions that required follow up calls (i.e. Would you like to receive information on how to make savings on your electricity bill/phone bill/life insurance).

At the end of the survey he asked me to give him my name, which I then refused. He then immediately proceeded to tell me my surname, which was wrong. He said my surname was Bladon, which was incorrect and BTW not even close. I told him he had gotten it wrong and I was not that person. He then asked again for my surname. It was at this point I turned the whole conversation around onto him. I asked him who he worked for and where he was based. I was told "I work for a company called Nationwide Surveys and we are based in Manchester". I then asked for a telephone number I can contact them on. I was told there is no number I can call them on. I told them that was rubbish because if they can call me I can call them, and I demanded he give it to me. I was asked why I wanted it, and I told him I wanted to be placed on their DNC (Do Not Call) list. I was told that now I had completed the survey they would not call me again. I told them that I didn't believe that. I told them to give me their phone numbers and their company address. Again I was asked why I needed this.

I said OK I'm going to come clean with you, my name is Markus and I work for British Telecom Security based in Wolverhampton (Not true). I'm interested in this info because you have called a private ex-directory number and I'm very interested to know how you came to get this number. I was told the number was on a list their company had purchased. I then asked again for the companies address and phone numbers. The guy all of a sudden was stuck and didn't know what to say. I told him, look you can either tell me yourself or I could find out this information for myself once I return to work on Monday, but if I have to find out this info for myself I will have no choice but to launch an investigation into both your company and it's business practices, which could end up with us suspending your services if you don't comply.

His response was "Erm, erm, erm I'm very sorry. I, I will never call you again". He then hung up.

Something tells me that will be the last I ever hear from them.

Just so you know impersonating a Police Officer, a Lawyer or a Judge also works well against telemarketers but nothing scares the crap out of them more than BT Security. Keep it in mind for future reference. ;)

As it happens, I actually live in Wolverhampton, guess who I'm going to be paying a visit too on next week, I'll post back to let you know how it goes.
• Same,

Ive had at least 3 calls now from an unknown number claiming to be "Nationwide Survey" and im sure I will receive a few more, they first called about a month or more ago and confirmed my surname, so I began to answer their questions thinking it was 'Nationwide' the building society.

I soon realised that they were not from my bank as they began asking irrelevant questions, again I asked what company she was from and I was told "Nationwide survey" - Clocking on at this point I told her I did not want to answer any more questions and asked repeatedly to have my details removed from their database.

She continued to ask me to answer questions concerning the survey, telling me it would only take 3 minutes - even talking over me and raising her voice LOL, at which point I was so exasperated I hung up.

Normally you wouldnt then expect the another call from the same company a few days later, but she persisted, same woman, to which I just hung up and my last phone call just now (different lady) and I asked again to be removed, well we will see how far I get with that request ey?
• I too have been harassed for weeks with phone calls from nationwide surveys, after weeks of trying to get rid of them I told them if they didn't remove my name from their list I would report them to the police for harassment. One hour later they phoned me again saying they didn't like being threatened, after a very rude reply I went onto their website and sent them an email stating I had informed the police of the harassment i had recieved from their company. I also informed them that I had kept a detailed account of all the times, dates and conversations i had and that i also passed that over to the police .

I have not had a phone call now for just over two weeks I hope this helps someone as it can be very frustrating and upsetting to continually receive these calls.:j

I've been getting these calls for over a month, when you say to stop calling they put the phone down. Today I said the person they wanted had passed away (he didn't say my full surname as it double barrelled) so said they had passed and he said 'so sorry madam for you at this time, I'm Kevin (must be the only name they have) and im calling from nationwide can I take your name and ask you a few questions as part of a survey then I said to take the name off of the calling list and he hung up! They call at all hours and it's so frustrating! Not answering my phone now, if it's important they'll leave a message

• I just got a phone call from someone, I asked him where is he calling from, and he said nation wide survey, he asked my name and he had my previous address details. He was not updated with my new address details, he asked my date of birth. And I was a little confuse about why is he asking me all the details. Even I was not able to understand his accent, so I told him to call back, but I am confuse about what to answer them, if next time they call us.
