ABS and Traction Control Lights
Hi
For a few weeks now the ABS and Traction control lights have been coming on and off.
They will go off perfectly when starting the car for the first time in the day but after its warmed up they will sometimes come on, but sometimes wont.
Anyone have any ideals what I should be looking for?
I am intending to take the car in to have its brake pads checked in case there wearing thin, but unsure what else it could be

Model/Make/Year would be helpful here but as a starter I'm going to throw "ABS sensor(s)" into the list of possible causes as in many cars the input from these is used to help both ABS and traction control decide what to do.0

Sensors get dirty and the wires corrode, They are the cheaper parts. After that its expensive modules.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

It would help to know what car...?:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. more info on car is needed, never heard of worn pads causing abs/traction lights to come on.
Impossible to diagnose on a forum only possible to give an idea of potential causes.
Best bet rather than asking on here and getting an opinion from every man and his dog is get it plugged in to diag machine to see what fault codes in control unit.
Look for a decent indipendant specialist near you they will be cheaper than main dealer.0 -

My Alfa had this in the winter. A quick blast with the pressure washer around each wheel arch did the trick. Think it was salt deposit on an ABS sensor, which also controls the traction control, which caused a duff reading.
If not that, then probably a failed sensor.
Depending on make/model if the car is more than a couple of years old an Independent specialist will almost certainly be a better bet than a main dealer, whatever The Rev thinks.0 -

ABS sensor, any of the 4 will most likely be the culpret, as others have said ;)
Possibly as easy to diagnose as checking the wire to each wheel, ie, broken wire = solution.:beer:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
What if it's an internally broken wire? Fault with the pad warning wire (on the front) may also create an open circuit, ABS pump may throw the light up...
