I did wonder if the kenwood might be the problem, as my granny made it by hand & cooked it in her turf range (aga):D

ooooooohhhh jealous of the turf range!!!!! i dream of the day i have a solid fuel aga (many years from now lol!!)

this is closest to what my gran did (with a few extras in hers tho)

I think the Kenwood is the problem too Mrs E. Soda bread doesn't like to be handled too much.

Its always dense, I know soda bread is a heavy bread, but it never comes out right for me.

I'm going to try it in the BM:D

dense sounds good to me, you make it and send it up here then;)
