Are you trying to find the thread you printed from last night? Reason I ask is if you have certain words from the recipe etc, we can use those as a search tool? (if you know what I mean?)

Can you think what more would make the thread stick out ? Was it called Soda or wheaten? Was it in another thread or specifically about either?

I need coffee, I can't shake the cobwebs today!

it would be interesting to see one with yeast - i would be genuinely interested

I actually dreamt about wheaten last night, must be this thread! Sad or what?!:o:rotfl:

Shortening (that threw me, its fat/butter/oil)

Also Vanilla & yeast (they surprised me too).

    The rest was standard

    Buttermilk
Honey (instead of sugar I guess).
    uncooked oatmeal - hmmmm
bread flour (usualy normal flour in soda isn't it).
    soda.

    Rasins - optional.

    Irish Soda Bread
This recipe for Irish Soda Bread is made in the bread machine.
    Prep Time: 15 minutes
    Cook Time: 2 hours
Total Time: 2 hours, 15 minutes
    Ingredients:
    · Ingredient
    1-1/2 Pound
    2 Pound Loaf
    · Buttermilk
    1-1/3 cups
    1-3/4 cups
    · Honey
    2 tablespoons
    3 tbl.
    · Vanilla
    1 teaspoon
    1-1/2 tsp.
    · Shortening
    2 tablespoons
    3 tbl.
    · Uncooked Oatmeal
    1/2 cup
    2/3 cup
    · Bread Flour
    3 cups
    4 cups
    · Baking Soda
    1/2 teaspoon
    3/4 tsp.
    · Active Dry Yeast
    1-1/2 teaspoons
    2 tsp.
    · Raisins, optional
    1/2 cup
    3/4 cup
    Preparation:
Place ingredients in bread pan in order listed or according to manufacturer's directions. The optional raisins are added at the fruit and nut signal. Depending on your machine this could be anywhere from 30 to 40 minutes into the cycle. Remember, when adding the yeast last, make a small well with your finger to place the yeast. This will insure the proper timing of the yeast reaction. This bread is processed at the Sweet cycle.

    Yeah that is weird?

If you can give me a specific sentence and I can search for that ? Pick a sentence that isn't likely to be in another thread if that makes sense?! Or did you check your internet history to see if you can find it that way?

    Right, i need coffee!

ah cross posted..... Let me check i understand - did you get that recipe off a thread in here, and now you want to find the thread....is that right? :D

I just found that recipe on google - and two things bother me - it has no "ratings" or reviews, and there is no picture... I honestly think that's for fruit soda bread - or this

Sorry MrsE but that's just not soda bread! It's a yeast bread that happens to contain buttermilk and baking soda. It sounds nice, but soda bread uses baking soda as a raising agent and it just doesn't contain yeast, and nor does it need proving.

This is the loaf I just took out of the oven:

Excuse the mess, I haven't tidied up yet :rotfl:

I'm craving soda farls now instead though, bah. Never happy.
