Well the OP seems to think it makes a difference to their priority.
    Been away for a while.
  • It does, in terms of overcrowding. It's not her fault he is moving home, is it?

Heres a novel idea........some of them- like OPs brother for a start get a job and rent their own place rather than expecting the taxpayer or parents to house them?!
    :silenced:
I think tabskitten is a crying, walking, sleeping, talking, living troll
  • That's certainly one solution, but it's not within the control of the OP, who already works.... as does her partner. Even with the brother not there, overcrowding is likely to still warrent priority.

I don't understand why so many people are blaming the brother, even if he went there is blatently not enough space for the remaining people and a baby. The OP and her boyfriend have made this baby, it's down to them to stand on their own two feet. Just apply for a one bedroom private rental flat and for housing benefit!

I assume the pregnancy is unplanned?

harsh I know, but if you cannot afford a rented place of your own when you were both working ( I appreciate he has now had his hours cut), why on earth start to plan a family??

or were you just relying on the baby to bump you up the housing register??

The OP asked what priority she may be ENTITLED to with her social housing provider as a result of overcrowding. Isn't that self determination on her part and, as a result, a step towards standing on her own two feet? Priority is no guarantee that you will be rehoused. I'm sure she will look at all the available options, but that doesn't change the overcrowding and this should be reflected in her application.

The irony is that if she were to get an above ground flat, she would have even MORE priority with a child above ground floor./

WOW - WHERE DID THAT COME FROM?? - left field or what?? lol

No, I am suggesting that in future they plan a little more carefully before making babies!
accidents happen yes - but it always seems to happen to people on council housing waiting lists - coincidence??
