Hi La Escocesa, haven't been around for a while. I'm definitely wavering towards a kindle, might get DH to get me one for Christmas (or at least put some money towards one)! I'm using my bingoport vouchers at the moment to get the rest of the books off the 1001 books list, so once I've got those, I'll probably start saving them up for bigger purchases. I reckon I've got about 135 books to go.
You must be getting excited about the wedding now, not long to go!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Bought some things for honeymoon today. Hoping to finish packing this weekend to see what else I might need. Still got £20 debhams voucher and £20 for m and s. They'll come in handy.
Honeymoon balance is going down, down, down, so that's good but looks like there will still be some remaining on t'old cc when we go away
Ah well, such is life. Worse things I guess.
Yoga-wise - decided not to go to a yoga course so that's £18.50 saved for honeymoon - can do yoga at home...or on the beach in a couple of weeks
Trying to decide whether I need those new flip flops... I'm guessing no... can keep my £2.50 ones for another year :T
Other stuff:
Trying to keep up with taking lunches to work - ended up walking home today so I could have something from here rather than eating out - was good but ended up taking 1h 15mins. eek
Reading a new yoga book - hip tranquil chick - it's a good read even if you're not into yoga. The second section is about yoga 'off the mat' - going to try to keep some of the principles with me
Also reading that book about Samuel Colt, can't quite remember the name of it just now, was a Richard and Judy book club one. Enjoying it so far and I love the way reading is such a cheap, enjoyable pastime. Who needs expensive hobbies?!
Other inexpensive hobby - knitting - finished my scarf. Got another few things I want to start and got some wool on special offer but not quite decided what to do yet. Also, I see things so cheap in the shops and I wonder whether I should bother
I know that's not quite the point... but M and S have got some funky leg warmers and I've got a funky £20 gift voucher, y'see
Better get off and try tidying up a little before bed.

If you knit the legwarmers though you can spend the £20 on something you can't knit... can you not steal the design and make your own?

Started packing

Has been really great. Started off by going through the laundry basket and washing everything I need. 2 washings done and handwashed all the necessary (something I generally put off).
Only got one thing to find now - beach dress - think it must be in one of the vacuum bags under my bed.
Got a few things coming from asos too and after that I'll be finished clothes-wise.
Ended up having a clear out into the bargain. Filled 2 bags for the charity shop. Made me realise how many things I bought knowing they weren't perfect. Need to stop that behaviour!
Just means more waste and something else to put into the charity bag a few months later.
Also chucked out everything that didn't fit. Figured if I haven't lost that elusive half a stone for my wedding then I'm not going to lose it just so I can fit into a pair of jeans or a dress. Plus, if I ever do lose and keep off this belly then I can reward myself with lots of new clothes
Or just not bother and buy lovely clothes in a 14!
(My preferred option - more to life!)
Now just need to sort toiletries, inc sun tan lotion and away we go!
Must also sort paperwork - if I put that into the handbag I'm taking away with me I won't forget.0 -
Come on then..............what news?Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:

Hope you had a great weekend La Escocesa!
I'd love to be a size 14! Just need to get on with it!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Well hello there
Been awol for a bit getting organised.
It's been a bit of a crazy week. So many things that have had to wait till the last minute. Picking everything up from where they are and taking things to other people etc. Last night I watched TV while cutting 45 metres of ribbon into 100 strips. The joy!
Money-wise it's all up in the air. Not sure where I am with anything at the minute. Get paid on Monday so that money will be in that account ticking over/paying bills while we're away. The joint a/c looks healthy so again all the bills will still get paid while we're gone. We've taken some cash with us (was too late to apply for one of those pre-paid credit cards for using abroad) but hopefully we'll have enough. Think I'll take some extra money in Sterling to change in emergencies. Will be able to sort that on Sunday/Monday before we leave.
Other good news (I think) is that I got a call from my bank saying I'd been pre-approved for 15 month interest free card… Don't know if I'd need it - going to have my cc cleared well before then… There'll be a transfer fee so probably not worth it for 2 or 3 months interest free. Something else to think about when I get back.
Christmas pressies - thinking duty free could help me get at least 4 or 5 pressies. Can get the rest in one shopping wknd when I get back.
Oh well, best get off. Catch up when I get back. Will post a link to piccies too

Hope you have a fantastic time, look forward to seeing the piccies!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0
