Every time I drive round that roundabout (commute to work so twice a day) someone uses the left hand lane for 2nd and 3rd exits. I wanted to know I was in the right, so that when someone does crash into me (so many near misses!) I know I'm in the right lane
Being 'right' is no consolation when you have a crash you could have avoided had you been watching for idiots0 -
Perhaps people havent noticed they've implemented a change?
Also, if the traffic is busy the arrows on the road may by obscured by queuing cars. Have they erected a sign to indicate the directions of the lanes.... its diagram 877 from chapter 3 of the Traffic Signs Manual if I recall correctly..0 -

I have to say that on a roundabout with 4 exits and 2 lanes - to me its perfectly okay (without road markings) to use 1st lane for a 2nd exit (what can often be "straight on"). I wouldnt indicate left or right. 2nd lane for 3rd and 4th, and i'd indicate right before entering the roundabout.
I dont think i've ever seen a roundabout with markings indicating otherwise like in this case.0 -
The highway code states where there are no markings vehicles turning left and going straight on are to be in the left lane.0

This thread needs a google streetview image, possibly modified with MS Paint to show the new layout.0

I was serious. Surely to define "left" on a roundabout, the 12 o'clock rule comes into play? It's also not clear if by "4 exits" they were including the one they are entering the roundabout from.
Technically we need a photograph of the diagram on the sign to determine which exits are "left".0
