    Hi All,

I've been trying to find lots of recipes that are budget friendly (who isn't at the moment?) and have found a free site where you can store them. I thought it might be handy for us to use so that all the recipes are in one place and easy to find.

I've just started writing mine today and will keep plugging away with all my family favourites. It'd be great to get some of yours too! I'm getting my mum to send some of the ones she made us when we were little and I'll upload those too. My Grandma has some lovely collections from after the war which would be useful in todays climate.

oooh - and they have a competition to win a case of wine when you write in a recipe, http://www.mydish.co.uk/defaultText.asp?id=13 Glug!!

    Good luck!

    Hi couteaux,

That's an interesting looking website. To see how others on Old Style store their recipes have a look at this thread:

I'll add your post to that one later so that others can find your link easily.

    Thanks Pink :)

I've just started using it and am trying to get all my favourites saved. I'll have a read of that other thread now. Thanks again!

I have a folder on my computer, subdivided into categories such as "cakes and biscuits", "winter main courses" "summer desserts" etc etc, and I have each recipe on a Word document in the relevant sub folder.

I very often adapt recipes as I'm vegetarian, and sometimes tweak the ingredients just to experiment, and I can record any changes I make in this way, or alternatives to use.

I do also have a large shelf full of cookery books, many of which belonged to my husband before we got together.

I've started to use a recipe website to save mine http://www.mydish.co.uk/

There have been so many recipes my family have 'lost' over the years, those tatty bits of paper in the back of books etc and it wasn't until it was too late that you realise they are gone. SO... I'm trying to be organised and am entering them online. I don't want my children to lose the precious recipes from my grandparents etc.

I just joined a brand new group on there which is a budget area for budget recipes. I've started putting some up - if any of you want to share yours too - it would be great. I'm always searching here for ideas, would be handy having them in one place together.

I cut out/print off recipes, put them inside A4 punched pockets and file them inside a ring binder with dividers for Starters (sub divided for soups etc) Mains (again subdivided for beef/chicken/fish/pasta/veggie), side orders and desserts

a bit anal, but it works!
  • I just write the recipes I have made and liked into a nice little stripey hardbacked, cloth bound book. It is A5 and fits in the corner of a kitchen cupboard without taking up much space.
I also add notes and my own alterations.

I have got recipe books (probably far too many!), recipes from magazines etc and recipes in my head. I need to try and de-clutter them and also keep the ones I am likely to use and am interested in how all you OS'rs store your recipes. Do you have them on the PC (would I ever look at them?), write them out in a book or keep them in a ring binder or do something completely different? If you keep them in a book did you get a special book or are they in a notebook?

I am sure someone out there has come up with a really good way of doing this so I will be thrilled if you could let me know.

Thanks for any help you can give me.
  • I have mine in plastic pockets in a ring binder :D

I'll add this to the exisitng thread to keep ideas together ;)

Thanks Penny for moving this. I did do a search but obviously didn't look hard enough! Guess what I will be doing this afternoon!
