I am the same as most of you. I have different poly pockets for different kinds of dishes, like: soups, chicken, beef, pasta, cakes etc. I find it works for me:j:j0

Hi I have loads of cook books and also buy cooking mags and tend to cut recipes out and put them in a lever arch file which is now bursting at the seams.
I would like something more organised and practical to start a catalogue of favourite recipes. Now ideally I would like to make my own as a family hand me down, so it needs to be hardwaring and practical - but although i am OS in my approach to most things, i am not 'crafty' at all and the last time i had a go at making something it was a Barbie haridressing salon on blue peter about 35 years ago!
So has anyone go any ideas of how I could do this? (keep it simple please)Well Behaved women seldom make history

I have an old recipe collection from my grandmother. It is in an notebook and handwritten.
Some of the recipes date from the 1920's
That is a very cheap way to do it.0 -
I received a book like THIS for my birthday (mine has a different design on the front), it's got pages for writing on and plastic pockets for putting your clippings, and you can get refills from Paperchase if you run out.
Not the cheapest idea but you could maybe find an A4 or A5 folder and buy some refill paper and do something similar.0 -
Thanks for the ideas
luckylady - that sounds lovely, something to be treasured (however i am quite a messy cook and not the neatest of handwriters)
angeltreats - i love that idea, maybe i will ask for one from Santa - which will save me tying myself up in sticky back plastic etc.Well Behaved women seldom make history

I use A4 ring binders with plastic pockets and put 2 recipes back to back in each pocket (I have one binder for recipes, one for microwave recipes). I'm on the lookout for some binders with a clear pocket on the front cover so I can pretty them up a bit more; you could use A5 ring binders and pockets if you want something smaller... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Haha, now there's a mental image!
I really wish my mum had kept a recipe book. She used to write things like her Christmas cake recipe down on scraps of paper and put them in "safe places" which meant they quickly got lost. Now she doesn't bake anymore and can't remember her recipes
I know my mum in law has a little A4 folder with plastic pockets that she uses to keep all the recipes she pulls out of magazines, but I don't know if she keeps any handwritten recipes. I bet her mum, my lovely grandma in law, has one, I must ask next time I speak to her. If so I'd love it to be passed on to me, my husband does have a sister but she has no interest in cooking so I doubt she'd want it0 -
I've merged this with a thread on organising recipes
I keep my "loose" ones in a folder all togetherNeed to organise them properly and put them in the plastic sleeving in the folder:o
