Oh! And had a rather confusing letter from my casual job saying
"there is some inconsistent practice in relation to how holiday pay is being paid... holiday pay has been paid at an incorrect rate, and has also been consolidated into the rate of pay. The current rates of pay incorporate an additional allowance of 8.3% for holiday pay. Currently, the rate of holiday pay should be based on 12.07%.'
(it says lots of other things too...)
Anyway, after much pondering and staring at the enclosed table, it appears I'll be getting a backdated payment of 37p for every hour I've worked since April 2008! Which isn't huge amount of hours, but still a nice surprise!0 -
The holiday pay thing sounds really confusing - but a backdated pay rise sounds great! And another nice weekend too - if I were you, Daffs, I'd check with your insurer, maybe they have a scheme about test drives? Or check with the AA or someone. Any joy yet?2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I don't know how true this is but I think that if you are fully comp on a vehicle you are also insured for 3rd party, fire and theft on another car.
But I might have completely made that up.......:o
Maybe ask on the insurance board??I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills
And feed my interiors addiction0 -

Thanks makeup - but unfortunately (and frugally!) we don't have fully comp, only third party, fire and theft (always figured our van wasn't worth fixing anyway! :rotfl:) and we're definitely not covered to drive others.
Of course, the sensible thing to do would be to just ring the insurance company, but couldn't bring myself to do that today...0 -
And I understand not phoning them completely! Talking to the people on the other end of a financial transaction can really ruin my day. Just go for it out of the corner of your eye, so to speak. Good luck!2023: the year I get to buy a car0

If the seller of the van is fully comp then I would think that if you drive it with their permission then you will be covered..... (I think
)

OOh, that's a possibility, thanks sparkly!
Will check it out. Not going to bother until we've found one to look at though... (which will be forever at this rate!)
Forgot to book my train for w*rk tomorrow early enough cos I was in such a bad mood (again) earlier, so have missed out on the cheap train tickets - costing myself an extra £1.15! Pah! Ah well - have booked tickets for Wednesday instead - and will be attempting the train that leaves at 7.54 instead of the one I get at the minute which goes at 7.12am... Now I'm a bit more confident on the cycling route at the other end, I reckon I can do it a bit quicker. We'll see...0 -
Oooohh! I had my first strawberry harvest from the garden today!! I was so exciting, and they tasted gorgeous! Plenty more ripening too! Yippee!!0

Bit of an up and down day today.
Awake at 2am worrying about a sentence I forgot to put on a form
:T Added sentence and posted form within 30 seconds of arriving at work
:j Got paid first time from new job!was only £678 for the month rather than expected £780
Not entirely sure what to do now. I'd worked out the £780 based on salary calculator etc, but this has taken almost £100 extra tax off me, and I'm not sure why! I had 3 weeks before starting this job where I didn't earn anything at all, perhaps that has something to do with it? But then surely I'd be taxed less because of that?
Head is fried and I can't work it out, but it's proper cocked up my shiny new budget and I can't say as I'm all that impressed about it£100 a month less is a LOT when that's my only income.
However - got in to find house clean and tidy, pancake mix made and all accoutrements set out on table, so had myself a nice little feast, and about to get in the bath for a nice soak :j0
