    Happy birthday!!! :bdaycake::bdaycake:
    I'm told only slightly worn!

And to be honest, I just can't argue with the garage bloke :rotfl: He wears a waistcoat and smokes a pipe, has the world's loveliest assistant who recognises me on the phone after just one 'hello', fixes things with gaffa tape, always apologises when he tells me how much things are going to cost, throws in stuff for free, and as far as I can tell gets all spare parts from the scrappy. I could just never bring myself to ask for new tyres, he'd probably look at me in disgust and tell me never to darken his doorstep again :rotfl: :D So part worn it'll be, even if it means I have to go back more often :D

Tyres are the only point of contact with the road, so they are the things that are under the greatest stress when you accelerate, and when you brake. Indeed, without tyres doing their thang, you'd do none of either.

I'm sure people have had experiences of that given the winter we've just had.

In light of that, I view part-worn tyres in the same light as part-worn brake pads. You're buying uncertainty, that's why they're cheap.
there's no end to what you can do with gaffa tape and a decent (or rather indecent ;)) imagination :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

    Tell us more... ;)
Pizza in the oven - possibly the world's most bizarre - mine's got tomato, onion, mushroom, spinach, rosemary, a whole egg, fresh pineapple, and is topped with wendsleydale and cranberry cos that's the only cheese we had :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

    No kebab?

Strangely enough, no cake at all yesterday! Quite shocking I tell you. But plenty the day before, and plenty at the weekend :D

And yep, you just crack the egg onto the top, and it cooks to perfection in the middle of the pizza :D Absolutely lovely :D

W*rk today, at least it's from home though :T (and I can't complain as I've only worked 1 day out of the last 6, and after today I've got another 4 days off :j :j :j

Pay day today too, so bank account wizardry coming up later, and an increase in my percentage thing! :j :j

Hooray for payday and some internet banking fun! :j :j Would you look at that there signature :D I'm aiming for 25% of the total by the end of May (I realise that's more than 25% of the year, but I didn't start at the beginning!) - I won't have any more income before then, but hopefully I can transfer from the trains budget as I don't intend to go to work 3 days every week, even if I end up there some :D

Patchwork fund is meant to get £400 a month.... but £93 union back fees () plus 2 days strike put paid to that one - but what I get back from Mr Daffs for last month's diesel will go into that fund too (and that'll take me over the 25% without even trying! :j :j)

So - all cheery now, hooray! Feels like I'm actually getting somewhere :o

Now - must go and earn those wages :p

    Right!

Tyres sorted (and tea and eggs-on-toast had in a cheery little market cafe while we were waiting - £4.20 for both of us :money: Then a quick cuppa with a friend.

Now home again, and I appear to have lost 3.5 hours from the working day which will have to be made up this evening  Best crack on then!

Thinking of starting a new diary today too - I know I'm not quite at the point where they'll tell me to close mine, but around birthday time seems like a good excuse for a fresh start with some new goals! :j :j

I agree, birthdays are all about new starts. Go for it, but leave a little linky here in case I lose you

Don't worry, I shan't be sorting it out tonight - I'm still working! Don't normally approve of this kind of behaviour, but since I didn't start til 11am, did one hour of work, and then went out for the afternoon, it turns out I've only just got to the regulation 7 hours anyway :D And actually, I'm quite cosy tucked up on the sofa by myself, and it's quite satisfying to get things done - I'm enjoying the work I'm doing at the minute :T

Just finished one bit, so going to have tea and toast and decide if I'm going to carry on with the next bit til Mr Daffs gets back.

I'll start a new thread over the weekend when there's more time to think straight :D

Hey Daffs, I'm sorry I missed it, so Happy Birthday for yesterday. I think starting a new diary is a grand idea, really helps with ideas and motivation I find.

Yaaay for tea and toast, don't work too hard.

  • Oh a new diary :)

    Shame about the cake!
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
