They're deducting 1/260th of salary for each day on strike - which is £111 per day (before tax etc). I assume they'll deduct it before tax etc?
Yes, because it makes it sound bigger.Cheery_Daff wrote: »In which case I'll probably pay slightly less tax??
You will indeed, and NI, and pension contributions. So you'll be looking at approx 34%+pension contribs - maybe about £50 ish down or so.
EDIT: That's a bit ambiguous. I mean about £50 of your wage are deductions, your wage will be about £60 quid, so you'll lose approx £60 quid for every day on strike.Cheery_Daff wrote: »No idea - I'm willing (probably foolishly) to trust they're right

When I work from home I drop large files on to my desktop, do the work on them and then drop them back on to the server at work when I am finished. They save much quicker that way. Wonder if that would work for you.:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -

Thanks ZTD, glad someone's paying attention :rotfl:When I work from home I drop large files on to my desktop, do the work on them and then drop them back on to the server at work when I am finished. They save much quicker that way. Wonder if that would work for you.
Thanks MatyMoo, not allowed to do that I'm afraid, most stuff we work on has to be kept on the secure server. Anyway, it's really not a problem most of the time! It was just this particular piece of work (sorting out an endnote reference library) because I had to save it after altering every single reference (normally I would just save a couple of times an hour for work stuff).
Anyway, it's all sorted out now because I've printed most of it, making the decisions on paper, then just adding them to the library in the office :T Working well
At home today, just popping out for a quick (well, short, it'll be rather slow :rotfl:) run in the rain :j I love running in the rain :j :j0 -
sounds like the same problems as me with servers there Cheery. well done on the run hope you enjoyed it.Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Hooray for payday and internet banking.. I love internet banking, especially now a lot of transfers are pretty much instant when you're shuffling things about.
Hope you had a good run!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
I did indeed have a good old blustery run, it was great! :j :j :j
And I've just been doing a few sums....
I've been adding up how much I'm going to save in total over the year to my different pots.
Each month I'll put -
£70 into holiday fund
£100 into emergency fund
£400 into patchwork life fund
By the end of December, added to what I have already, the funds should stand like this:
£938 holiday fund
£1200 emergency fund
£1000 palace fund
£3600 patchwork life fund
Total saved: £6738
However, that's not a nice round number, so I'd like to get up to £8000. The extra will go to the patchwork life fund, making that a total of £4862. Which also isn't a nice round number either - I'd like to get that fund to £5000.
So.... that's how (in a roundabout way) I've arrived at my target for the year of £8150! Which means saving around £150 extra a month, on top of the £570 a month I already save
Still - nowt like a challenge
Anyway - I've already got £1608 out of the £8150 - that's 19.7%0 -
