have a great holiday and a safe and fun trip up there on the train.0

Not *quite* as far as pippi land yet - although should be considerably vcloser than this!!
Complete fiasco of a day, probably should have gone home and got the car, but I just couldn't do it
Finally arrived at friend's house just outside Inverness - he's not here, but we have tea, cereal, wine, tv, and HEATING, so are Happy
trains up to far north cancelled today, and potentially tomorrow - so hanging around with both eyes on national rail enquiries to see before we jump out of the house. At worst case we can go to Aberdeen and get the ferry from there - but there isn't one til Thursday and I think Pippi wanted to be well gone by then! :eek:
Ah well, can't do anything else tonight, I'm SOOOOO tired! Lovely to be able to pop in on you all though

Cheery, my word - you've had such a long journey. I'm glad you're safe and warm, I'll be checking the trains myself for you now.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Said on Pippi's thread too but good luck for your onward travels! Not long now hopefully!“Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goals.”

We arrived

And since we've temporarily taken over Pippi's entire life, I'm also going to take over her diary too - so pop over there for updates

(still at Pippi's house
but thought I'd best keep my nonsensical ramblings that aren't to do with holidays over here! :rotfl:)
VERY much having a VERY lovely time indeed
Had a lovely long walk along the snowy beach in the sunshine today, ambling and nattering and finding treasures
Been thinking a lot about my goals for the next year, as I suppose everyone does at this time of year... Last year I split my life into 8 categories:
- home
- garden
- exercise/health
- money
- phd
- work
- (do you know I can't even remember what this one was?! Been racking my brains all day! :rotfl:)
- blog and crafts
Then I did goals for one month, 3 months and 6 months in each of the categories, and updated at the end of every month as I headed towards the bigger goals. I actually got quite a few things done! :T :T
However, things look a little different this year... Won't be having PhD section at all! :T :T (it's not *quite* gone away, but won't be there past the end of January). I won't be having a work section either - it wasn't for things to do AT work, it was about heading towards a new job - which I now have :j :j :j And obviously, the section I can't even remember won't need to be there :rotfl: :rotfl:
So - at the minute we've got
(:rotfl: gosh, I just remembered what it was! :rotfl: - MONEY!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: - so that WILL be staying :rotfl: :rotfl:)
Ok, so at the minute in a kind of vague pondering-things-way we've got:
* home (including getting the front door open, finishing the bathroom, setting up my attic study properly to work from home)
* garden (creating seating area, moving compost bin, growing lots of fruit and veg :T)
* money :rotfl: (new budget! :j :j lots of savings, maybe paying off mortgage?? increasing the treats budget
)
* health (exercise, eating properly, more local food, staying sane and calm while working full time etc)
And I also thought possibly:
* friends (keeping in touch with people I don't see much - I'm not too bad at this, but would like to write more, and make time to visit people who live far away now I'll have a bit more money)
* adventures
(frivolous treats, like trapeze lessons, and my photography course, and daft things that I wouldn't otherwise make time for
)
Will have a proper think on while I'm on holidays - I love having this time and space around Christmas/new year to take time out of life and have a good think about what I want...
The only section that's coming on well so far is the gardening one - I'm busy wading through Pippi's bookshelves looking at all the lovely gardening books
:rotfl: (also busy stuffing myself with fudge and mince pies, and fretting that Mr Daffs' presents weren't good enough...
)
Hope all your Christmasses are cheery

i'm sure Mr Daffs loved his christmas presents. I'm so glad that you're having a great holiday. After you're horrendous journey up there you deserve a good holiday.0

You make my level of organisation (which I pride myself on) look paltry

Realised last night that I was talking rubbish - I'd already included money in my list, it was voluntary work I'd missed out! :rotfl: But that's not such a priority now i'm working full time, so might get subsumed into a different category...
Wet and grey and windy here, caught the bus into town and had tea and cake in a cafe
Back home now snuggled up with tea and soup and wading through Pippi's bookshelves
