  • Goodluck with the meeting tomorrow - :) hope mr d is ok xxxx

Off to bedfordshire - been out at a meeting - I think a good bra is better than most things in life. And, more essential.
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
    minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:

I'm with you on the essential bras pippi - that's why this thing is so frustrating! Just wish we had a nice independent shop here (or a Bravissimo!) :( Although there's always the need to balance good upholstery with Mr Daffs' dislike of matronly bras... :rotfl:

10 days into the 50 day challenge!

Just thought I'd have a bit of an update - we're a fifth of the way in!

    (1) finish PhD
    * I've started my analysis (again) - chapters 5-8 to be rewritten over the next two weeks - eek!
    * met with examiner to clarify exactly what needs doing - less than I thought!
    * had brief meeting with supervisors
    * arranged meeting for this afternoon with supervisors to discuss conclusions (important bit), clarify aims, and decide on a timetables and deadlines - lots of preparation to do before then!
    * found out about official/unofficial requirements - examiner will read unofficially and tell me if I need to make more small changes, so that when I submit officially, I KNOW it will be the final version. Hooray! Also found out it's going to cost me £70 to print and bind three copies (two of which are unnecessary), and another £225 in resubmission fees - but choosing not to get cross about this right now
    * planning to submit to examiner unofficially before going away for Christmas - then I have January to make any changes.

    (2) Be ready for Christmas
    Holidays
    * have decided on dates, and arranged with the lovely friend we're house sitting for
    * have sorted out budget
    * (still need to plan what needs doing to the car to make sure we can sleep in it!)

    Presents
    * been through last year's list and transferred what I didn't get to this year's list
    * have now got final list of what to get for everyone
    * bought two presents the other day - 3 for 2 while getting nephew's birthday present
    * (still need to sort out budget for presents properly and then start getting them!)

    (3) stay healthy and sane throughout (1) and (2)!
    * I've drawn up a simple little chart in my diary to keep track of exercise
    * aiming for 5x30 min sessions each week - managed three last week - although one of those was cycling 9 miles, and another was walking 9 miles, so both took considerably longer than 30 minutes!
    * I'm drinking no more than 4 cups of caffiene tea a day - aiming for 3 but it's hard with all this cold weather!
    * eating I'm not doing too well at - so rather than saying 'I won't eat any cake/biscuits/chocolate' I'm going to say 'I WILL eat 3 pieces of fruit a day' - more positive, and will send me in the right direction!

So - I'm getting there! :j :j Feels like I've actually made some progress too! :T Although a little bit more progress wouldn't go amiss.... :rotfl:

Today's important things are to do some more analysis work, to make an achievable plan for finishing PhD, and to meet with supervisors at 2pm to discuss conclusions, my plan, and what else needs doing

First though - Shred day 29 - Not sure I want to - but if I don't get it done this morning while I'm up on my own, it won't get done at all! Going to do level 2 today - got rather bored of level 3 dragging on :rotfl:

Thats pretty good, Cheery - I'm certainly with you on getting the present shopping done, and getting it all on the web seems so much less hassle. Bras, of course - not so much, f2f is the only way to go really. I hope that all works out for you.
2023: the year I get to buy a car

  • Morning! You are making really good progress with your 50 days, well done :D

Re the bras - what about ordering one from somewhere online to try, then you could get more from the same place if it's good?

    Thanks you lot :D

Squizz, I've just ordered two online! And they don't fit! And they charge for you to return them - and then again when you order more  so I'm going to take them back to the actual shop and not leave until I've got at least one that fits!

I got fitted last week in Debehams (who told me one fit when it blatantly didn't - don't trust them), and John Lewis (who were nice, and stayed with me til we got one that fit, but I didn't like a lot of them, and was OSOOOo bored of trying them on so thought I'd come home and order them from there online.

Went through a big load online with mr Daffs (he gets to express an aesthetic view :D although it'll get overridden if this goes on much longer! :rotfl:). None of the John Lewis ones passed muster... And my sister recommended La Senza. There isn't one in Sheffield town centre, so thought I'd risk ordering online, since I now had the right size (and they had 2 for £25).

However - they don't fit. So I'm going to have to go over to Meadowhell (I HATE it there) and do it in person. I should have done that first, but since I *thought* I knew what size I was........

If this doesn't work, then I'm going to have to make a special trip over to Bravissimo in Manchester :( Pah!

    Shred day 29 done :D
  • LOL - I was going to ask if you'd tried Meadowhell, but it seems that your feelings about the place are similar to mine!

Thought i would creep out of the woodwork again to give my two pennies on bras! I hate bra shopping - they never fit, even after being measured in the same shop!

The only place i have found for pretty bras that fit is New Look but even then i have to try them all on because the sizes vary a bit! M&S always fit, but they're not always the nicest... La senza sometmies do nice bras but i like the most expensive ones and refuse to spend £54 on a set. (I took them back after buying it without looking at the tags :o)

Anyway... Rant over - sorry - back to work.. :(
