Hey my lovelies, just a quick heads up and it is not a good one I'm afraid, I have just been to Tesco and some of the prices have gone up quite a bit, literally over night.

And the dreaded price hike in flour has appeared this morning, bread flour has gone up from 50p to £1.29, plain flour and SF flour have both gone up from 42p to 59p!! So that means bread is going to go up very soon!!!!..

Sorry for the hijeack, I was just so shocked I couldn't believe it, I only checked prices on line last night

Just gave you my 'recipe' over on your thread Missy :D In short - you're probably best asking someone else! :rotfl:

Lost the plot a bit today with writing, unsurprisingly :o Going to set the timer for just 15 minutes and get *something* done, hopefully that'll make me feel better :o

Off out this evening, so I'd really like to have the chapter finished before I go  I'll be doing one of two things:

    (1) going to jive, just round the corner, costs £6 but is for the whole evening, and ever such fun :D Lots of exercise :D Going with ex-ex-mr daffs, who has a habit of cancelling things at the last minute if he finds something more interesting to do... :rotfl:

so, if he cancels, I'll be going to...

    (2) a european music and dancing session, free, about 30 mins walk away, whole evening, which I've wanted to go to for ages but not got my act togeter, it's only once a month, and I kind of wish I *was* going to it, but had already agreed to jive first (jive happens every week) - and I WON'T be dropping out - trying to teach bloke a lesson or two about 'commitment' :D (it's not like that really! :rotfl: Just don't like letting people down).

    We'll see - either way, it'll be a cheery evening I think!

    Biscuits and tea :T :coffee:

(I tried to answer your flour thing but it didn't post! Not helpful - mostly just plain cos it's cheaper, occasionally bread flour if we've not been to Tesco/Netto recently, at the minute everything's being topped up with some posh stone ground local stuff, mostly white, occasionally a bit of wholemeal, and at a pinch self raising! :rotfl:)

Don't use me as a benchmark for classes Missy - I know people at both of these already! :) So not a problem just toddling along for a bit of a dance :D I have vowed to myself that there is going to be far more dancing in my life, so I'm trying to grasp opportunities when they arise (although I can't *quite* justify £6 for jive every week, every couple of weeks I can usually manage!)

Could just eat a chocolate bar :o But I'm *thinking* that actually *buying* cr*p food is going to have to be the thing I STOP as per Mr Big's challenges :o I used to have a thing where it was ok to say yes to a biscuit when offered, ok to have cake at the WI or on holiday, but NOT ok to pop into the newsagents for a mars bar when out by myself - because that usually led to stuffing it in then popping into the off licence next door for another one :o:o

As I do when I'm stressed, I've started to slip back into the habit again, particularly in the afternoons when I'm at work - popping out to the shop, then getting another little something on the train home because it's so long between dinner and tea :o

So I'm thinking it's got to STOP - for financial reasons if nothing else!

good thinking daffs, I think I will join you on that challenge. If I don't buy chocolate I can't eat it can I. I like that thinking. And there is no way I can afford 60p or £1.20 a day and my waistline certainly doesn't need it!!

And thanks for the bread advice might give it a go tonight, if I've managed to put the 4 million bags of shopping away!!!!

I was just thinking about what to STOP doing that was measurable and achievable, and the little areas of my life that I've been dissatisfied with, one of which is the fact that I've been putting on weight again, as I always have done in the past when stressed :o I also noticed the other week that I've been spending my 'unnecessary' budget on just snacks, completely lazy bus trips, etc, which it's there for, yes, but it's also there to pay for days out, the odd book, new underwear :o, a charity shop cardi if I fancy one... And I've not been able to have any of those things for so long, because my unnecessary budget is being eaten up (literally!) with chocolate bars and nonsense here and there! I think part of the problem (as well as the success!) is that I work with a weekly cash budget - so spend my £15 each week (or it gets lazily subsumed into the food budget :o)

So - unnecessary budget is £15 a week - which makes £75 a month (I budget for 5 Mon-Sun weeks in a month - if there's only 4, then the spare goes towards paying off something (which I don't have to do any more!) - so now it'll go towards saving for holiday).

Anyway, so let's say it's £75 a month. That's a LOT of money. From now on I'm going to make sure that I do *something* cheery each month with some of it - I might say £25 a month is my monthly amount to spend, which still leaves me £10 a week for saying yes to a spontaneous cuppa, or going to Jive, or the WI etc. That means at least once a month I get to, er, replace a bra :o :rotfl: or something :D :j :j

(I think I *might* have already decided what I'll be doing with November's £25 :D But not quite sure yet :D)
