eeeek Help, I have my interview in a couple of days, and have just found out the interviews are nothing like normal interviews..... any teachers/teaching assistants about that can give me any much needed adviceon interview questions etc etc????
I'm so sorry to hijack your thread daffs but am in desperate need of help, and don't really know where else to post or who else to ask, I want this job just so much.:(0 -
Get yourself over to MG's thread and ask there too Misy if you haven't already! No idea myself, sorry! And don't worry about hijacking, ask as much as you need to!
Didn't mean to scare you PippiI'm sure there's far cheaper places - but I only booked one day in advance, and didn't book it myself, and we have to go through specific travel company, so probably not much choice...
Bleurgh, evening's disappearing rapidly! Don't know what happened (well, a short argument about dishcloths, and another about having the heating on and the windows open at the same time took up a little bit of time :rotfl:). Trying to sort out mini cv now for extra days at work, don't know why it's taking so long! Still got to print stuff off at the library (will drive now) and pack ready for tomorrow. Good job I'm not going stupidly early!
<yells> HONEYBEAR!! I KNOW WHAT"S GOING ON NOW! WILL PM YOU! :rotfl:0 -
Thanks daffs my lovely, have posted on MG's thread, thanks for the advice xx0
-
missymoo, very best of luck.
Daffs - how exciting!
Pippi - yay to the rooms and to Cherisong! I'm off to google them myself....2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I used to work for the YHA, absolutely loved it, would much rather stay there, but apparently I'm not allowed! (through work, that is, I haven't been banned from all YHA hostels :rotfl:) In the spirit of positivity, must see if I can do something about it! :T
Good luck Missy, and I probably won't get back in before your interview, so I do hope it all goes well for you! :T

There is a new hotel called Tune which is near Waterloo Station and advertises themselves as 5* hotel at 1* prices.
The website is here - not sure what the prices are like though. I pass it on the bus lots and always wonder what it is like.
It is also worth checking out the Travelodge. I got a room for my sister last year for £9 in their sale for the travelodge in Farringdon and I know quite a few people who've got a bargain room with them. I'm sure one of my colleagues got the Covent Garden one for about £29 so he could bring his kids up to london to see Oliver!
Enjoy your time in London Daffs - make the most of the hotel - make sure you get all the smellies and make lots of tea and eat all the biscuits!!!!!I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills
And feed my interiors addiction0 -
Enjoy your trip Daffy, and if they have free wireless in the room make sure you use it. Oh, and definitely second the shampoos and drinking the tea too. I always bring the biscuits back on the train. I also take bananas and apples from the breakfast buffet for the train journey home:)
Fay, just remembered there is a new YHA hostel just off Oxford Street somewhere. I love the St Pauls everybody is so lovely. So much so that me and OH go in dorms because I love meeting all the people in them. If it was still Uni holidays I would recommend Beit Hall at Imperial College, really cheap at £40 per night for a twin room ensuite. but think that is only til the end of September, It is right by the Albert Hall. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
I must be in the really posh travelodge if you can get ones that only cost £9! :rotfl:0

Right then.
Leaving in an hour :T
Bag pretty much packed (apart from underwear which still wasn't dry yesterday, just got to rescue off radiator). Sold book on Amazon this morning for £8.43! :T So going to pack that up in a minute. On the way to the station I'm going to BOTH university libraries (at different universities!) to drop books off, plus the main council library to pick up a London guide book (very MSE!)I'll also run by the post office to post book :T
For the train I've got 3 PhD chapters that need reading through and editing, and also a list of Mr Big's challenges, and a nice A4 exercise book full of plain paper, and some freshly sharpened pencil crayons :rotfl:
I'm meeting a friend at 2, another at 5, hopefully Honeybear after that :T :T And perhaps another old mate from my YHA days tomorrow night :j
For any 'spare' time :rotfl: in the hotel room, I've got a couple of buttons to sew on my cardi, and a tapestry cushion I'm finishing off :T As well as diary and notebook for plotting and scheming and planning Great Things :j
I think I'm ready! (well, apart from the fact I'm sitting in my nightie with a cuppa, that is! :rotfl:)
Not aiming for *no* spends this time - I'm there for longer, and meeting up with various friends etc which I can't pay for on expensesBut low spends would be good! :T
Back Thursday night, be good! xxx0 -
Wow Daffs, you're going to pack a lot in! Good for you, and have a great time. I'm definitely jealous of you meeting up with Honeybear - lots of positive vibes to you both
