Thanks guys
Work stuff is all sorted - have been booked into London hotel - £340!!  Have to keep remembering it's not me paying for it :rotfl: and stop feeling bad!Got quote and dates for band, and have emailed everyone else. And boss has said no to us reviewing abstracts anyway, so no need to worry about it
Just need to get my act together with mini cv now...
As for PhD - chapter 2 is sorted, and as I'm unlikely to get any more actually written today, I'm concentrating on assembling things instead. Just need to email it to myself, then rummage in the attic for chapter 4 (already have paper copy), then get train folder together.
Friend been and gone, didn't get much of a proper chat with her because Mr Daffs was still here (he was meant to be going away today, and now isn't), and was pathering around in and out of the room every 30 seconds looking for something, or bringing us something, joining in with playing with friend's small child on the floor... :rotfl: Very cheery, and it's lovely to see them playing, but not much girly chat going on :rotfl: Oh well, another time...
Right, off to crack on with next phase of activity now0 -
hey daffs, sounds like you are having a wonderfully productive day.
I recieved my pattern today, atleast i think that's what it is haven't had chance to open it yet, but thank you so very much. Am a bit at a loss with what to do with myself now my kitchen is tidy......0 -
Blimey, £340! Even for London, thats a fair bit. They don't work very hard at costcutting in some areas of your work, do they!
And good news on the abstracts - odd, isn't it, how these things hang together2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Well Cheery, what a fabulously productive day you are having. I love the idea of writing it all down, taking a breath and working it out. Colours make it easy to focus on too. Shame you didnt get your girly chat but it sounds like small child and Mr Daffs had a lovely time anyway. That is a lot for a hotel, how many nights are you away for and do you have anything planned whilst there in the evenings?

I was shocked at the cost too, I'm sure I could have found it much cheaper, but we have to go through a special company, and apparently that was the cheapest. Just there for 2 nights cherisong, meeting a friend for a cuppa early Tuesday evening, just sorting out possibly meeting another friend on Tuesday afternoon, and then hopefully will sort out meeting up with our very own honeybear! :j :j
But other than that, nothing planned for the evenings, any suggestions for free stuff? There's someone else from work going who I don't know, so may end up meeting her for dinner one night. Otherwise might take advantage of quite time alone in hotel to catch up on Mr Big's challenges :j :j (also got some PhD to do too). Looking forward to it actually! :T

Heyup Pippi (hehehe). What kind of hotel do you like to stay in. Are you up for hostels? If you are happy to stay in a hostel I would recommend either St Pauls YHA - it is right next to St Pauls Cathedral and is in what used to be the choir boys house. It is a little careworn but in a lovely spot across the river from the Tate and the Globe. Alternatively there is the Meininger Hostel at Hyde Park which is right next door to the Natural History Museum. Both of them have private rooms available if you are lucky. St Pauls has single sex dorms and you can get a bed for as little as £18 per night there (children may be cheaper). I have stayed in both and they are fine.
Cheery - v&A have a late night opening once a month with events on. Not sure if that is a Thursday or Friday night though. Otherwise free events, Mmm will ask my friends who live there if they know of anything going on at the moment.
I am down in London on 2nd and 3rd Dec. Working in Westminster for two days and I am going to make the most of them paying for a nice hotel and catch up with friends in the evening. I used to hate London but now I quite like going there - only in short spurts though.
Your hotel will be lovely. I used to have to use one of those companies and they always put me somewhere really nice, usually a radisson. Do they have a women aware programme as if they do, join and you get even better service. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Oh its for two nights! Thats only a little over the odds then.
Pippi, don't worry, there's loads much cheaper, especially if you can cope with hostels. Otherwise, hotels around railway terminuses are good. I had a weird one a few years ago, within walking distance of Victoria, but the road was really quiet, and as well as being ensuite, it had a kitchenette in the room. I got there at 10.30pm and was out the door by 7.30am, but I did manage to sleep, so it was well worth it. I just wish I could remember the name2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Phew - I just need something near NHM and city airport
Will make a few enquiries - will have the dd with me - off to look at that hostel thank cheri. But we'll see - thank you!
