Exactly!
Without tea there would be no diary
KC, I vaguely remember in all the weekend's activities that there was a post from you saying you weren't around in London this week? Sorry, I should really have been more clear about dates, I suppose it didn't really go into my head that there was a real possibility of meeting you!But if there is, hooray! And if I've got it wrong about you not being around this week, let me know! I'll also be in London again on 2nd November, but work thing finishes about 4 I think (possibly 5, will check) and train home at 6.30, so not much window of opportunity! Would be oh so lovely to meet you though
I LOVE meeting people I've 'met' on the internet, it's so funny how your impressions sometimes don't match up with the reality :rotfl: But I've got some folk on another forum who I've slowly met over the years, and one now works in the next building, and we often have lunch, very cheery :T
Missy - hooray for running with Hypno! :T And if she's busy for the next few weeks, sounds like the ideal opportunity for you to get a bit of running in!:rotfl:

true daffs I guess it is. Well daffs if you're ever in this part of the country I would gladly meet you for a cuppa, or anyone else for that matter, I have a lovely tea pot to make it in:D0
-
:hello: Yep (or rather, nope) I won't be able to do it - I was a bit optimistic in touting a midweek meet in London - I seem to think I have less work than I actually do
but yes, I'd really like to meet you! Not likely at the mo
but when I start making my millions (even this computer is called The Millionaire, you know
) then I'll pop by on a grand progress of the UK

I look forward to it KC!
We're in a beautiful part of the world so you'll enjoy it while you're parading up and down the country
Shame we won't meet (yet!) - I'll let you know if I'm down there at the weekend or anything, not out of the question!
Oh it's SOOooo exciting the possibility of meeting up with people! :j

Isn't it lovely all working together?! :T I finally got my chapter section written! :T (although another one to do today)
Bit of a pottering day today. Some PhD to do, a trip to the library for some printing, meeting a friend for a cuppa, getting ready to go to London in the morning, and some work-related things to sort out - a hotel to stay in (was meant to be staying at a friend's, but not now), forms to fill in, mini CV to sort out for this extra work malarkey... :eek:
Have a good one the lot of you!0 -
Bah! Gone and got myself in a bit of a disorganised flap!
Not for any good reason - I'm just fussing about how many different things there are to do, and what I should do first. So, a mini grounding/action planning type post, if you'll indulge me...
WORK ISSUES
* London hotel
I was meant to be staying with a friend, but now I'm not, so have to stay in a hotel instead. Already rung work to check it's ok with the budget (yes), and to ask someone to book it for me (I'm not allowed to do it myself - not because I'm useless, rather bizarrely I have a secretary who does things like that :rotfl: (can't believe I just said that:rotfl:))
ACTION: stop bl**dy fussing! For some reason I'm worrying about the money - it's not mine, and they agreed to send me on the course, and They would have had to pay for a hotel anyway if I hadn't said I would stay with a friend, and the other person from work on the course is staying in a hotel! :rotfl: (so no action required, other than to stop being a silly sausage)
* Reviewing abstracts
I was asked to review abstracts for a conference about which I know very little, and in a moment of enthusiastic positivity last week I said I was interested. I've now got to fill in the form, and am worried about whether I really know enough to do it, and whether I have time to do it, as it's not actually part of my current job description.
ACTION: have emailed colleague (who also agreed because I was so enthusiastic and encouraged her to :rotfl:). Depending on her reply, I'll ring the person who made the request to ask about time implications and what it requires. Then I'll ring boss and see what she thinks.
*Christmas party
In my positive 'say yes more' mode last week, I agreed to be part of the organising committee for the work Christmas partyTrying to rope Mr Daffs' band into playing (well, we've got to give the money to someone! :rotfl:). Need to pin him down to check they're available on the date we want.
ACTION: wait til he gets up, then make sure he checks dates before going out. Then email other organiser to confirm.
PHD ISSUES
* chapters to finalise
Not really an issue here, just need to get on with it
ACTION: Set timer for 15 minutes at a time, and plod through list of what needs doing for each chapter. Email them to myself, then venture up into the attic to find a paper copy of another chapter. Get them together in a folder ready for going on the train tomorrow.
OTHER STUFF
* taste radar
Got to input the last of the receipts and get them posted first thing tomorrow before London
ACTION: save this for this evening - mindless activity that doesn't need to use up valuable most-awake time this afternoon!
OVERALL
* PhD first
* don't check work emails again until 1pm, and then only to make sure hotel is booked
* other work activities need to wait until I come back from coffee with friend
* packing, taste radar, and other assorted stuff can wait until both PHD and work are done this evening
Phew! That feels better - why does it all spin round inside your head so much sometimes??? :eek:
At least I'm getting a lot better at recognising it! I usually only have about 5 minutes of head spinning before sitting down and thinking 'now what *exactly* are you fretting about - and what can you *do* to stop yourself fretting?'
And now I've got a plan - so thanks!
Quick cuppa now I thinkAnd I'm going to watch the sparrows on the bird table in the sunshine and appreciate and learn from their cheery chirpiness

Cheery, I love this - its not just a to-do list, its a "how to stop flapping and achieve something" list, good for you. And the colours make it more accessible, they really do.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I love that attitude its something i take on board when its on paper i can define it and it seems once its on paper the imagination can not run rife and throw in things that are highly unlikely lol
happy monday xxx
