Wonder if the remote control television got a reception this warm "I don't see the point...All you have to do is turn the knob, anyway...."

That's not the same. A TV remote just allows you to control the TV without leaving you seat. This is entirely different to this unnecessary soap thingy where you still have to get up close to the dispenser.

Actually.............for some people they will be a godsend
my son has a physical disability whereby his right arm and hand is paralysed ( similar to a stroke victim) and often has immense difficulty in getting soap out of a soap dispenser in public toilets or at school for example - the main problem being that he has not got enough strength to press the buttons to get the soap out with his paralysed hand and if he uses his "good" hand he can't lift his paralysed hand high enough to get it underneath the soap dispensers to catch the soap

I appreciate that for most able bodied people this is a waste of money - but to the thousands of people who have paralysed arms and hands, it could well be a godsend

Maybe Dettol would have got more sales if they had advertised it this way as well for people who find using soap dispensers difficult

it really gets on my wick.. we have nick jr on during the day as i have a toddler and i like the background noise.. anyway, there are soooo many adverts for this nonsense.. all with the underlying threatening horror film theme.. GERMS ARE EVERYWHERE NOONE IS SAFE, YOUR CHILD COULD HAVE GERMS, DONT LICK THE FLOOR IT HAS GGGEEEEEERRRRMMMS... even my little one has picked up on it, though he finds it funny.. i do prefer CBeebies for the lack of adverts but i find it too saccharine and worthy at times... the programmes are better on nick jr but i do worry abut the affect of advertising on children... everyone is so paranoid about germs these days...

I have to agree, many years ago when we happened to be kids we went out and came back covered in mud from heaven knows where and grabbed something to eat without washing, there was none of these bio cleaners or super wipes we used soap, our mother wiped everything over with a cloth with washing up liquid on it, yet that generation and ones before it had less allergies and are less prone to infection. no coincidence I say.

You forget a minor detail...I've fixed it for you :)
"yet that generation and ones before it had less allergies, are less prone to infection, but don't live as long".

Taking the mick a little, but better hygiene, more understanding of how the body works etc is one of the reasons people live longer these days...

i saw a large display of these in a shop in my lunch hour - a little old lady was looking in wonder (i was looking in bemusement) she looked at me and said what a wonderful idea, i stated that if you had dirty hands and were using an antibacterial soap despenser then any germs picked up would be washed off in the handwashing anyway! she agreed and was seen heading in the direction of the normal hand wash!

I went to the toilet at a service station yesterday.

you flushed the toilet by waving your hand in front of a sensor. The taps turned on automatically. The hand dryer was automatic. The only bit that wasn't was the soap dispenser, so I can see why they've done it.

It's because of our aging population that we're facing the financial and ecological crisis that we are! If everyone died at 70 like they used to we'd all have a better standard of living.

And after you've washed and dried your hands, you have to touch the door that has been handled by all those who don't wash their hands. :D
