Some 2.0TDis engines have problems with oil cooler drive failure at about 70,000 miles - you need the engine number to see if it may be affected. It's potentially a new engine and you have no idea it's failing. This was featured in Audi Driver magazine a couple of years ago.
If you do get one go for 10,000 mile oil changes, rather than 20,000. 20,000 is for fleets and owners who buy new and get rid after 3 years.
And if the OP is planning to do 30-35k p/yr, why have 4 services a year rather than 2? The car will still get checked every 6months or so, but with the 10k service it may be every 3months which is an extra day off the road each quarter. what would a normal service cost roughly?0

We do a £99 oil change annual service, but others depend what's due.:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. TiTheRev......how much do you think i'd be able to push for to get knocked off the car that i buy?0
-
It depends on the purchase price, but more recently we've been working with much smaller margins, and basically been trying to increase volume of sales rather than profit to get the same turnover. I'd be surprised if you could get more than £100-200 off the prices, but they'd be more likely to do a deal on mats/flaps/paint protection etc which are classed 'extras'. Some dealerships offer service packs too which may be a negotiation, so that if you know what sort of mileage you will do, you can save some money off the servicing in the purchase price.:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. TiTheRev.....would you advise going with the option 2 i mentioned earlier? i'm thinking its a cracking price and pretty much the same car0

FYI: http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/volkswagen-world/news/item/226, but I would guess that you'd lose about the same value as you've lost from the showroom prices. The vehicle you're looking at is 3years old, so will have accrued a similar level of depreciation, but you'll need to add a little more depreciation for the mileage is all.:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. and surprisingly good on MPG, but with the extra mileage i'd be more tempted to stick to the others, unless you're a speed freak

we're all speed freaks aren't we? yeah ive driven the 170 and its like the preverbial off a shovel!
Think i'm going to go with option 1 as its also got full leather interior which for comfort reasons will do me nicely. The only problem is im trying to get the Boston VW to buy it from the Huddersfield VW but they're saying that in order to do this i would have to put a deposit down and also be obliged to have the car unless there's a major defect. Would you advise that i actually went across to Hudds VW myself to avoid doing this and being able to test drive it before making a decision0
