Biggest cuts since second world war

You really are a nasty piece of work, arent you? Every post you make is completely self-interested: advocating cuts so long as they don't affect you, protecting what you deem to be your inherent rights.
You have no idea how much the public sector middle management mentality that you typify is despised in the country at large, do you?

What were they meant to do? Predict the future and stand there and take the bullets??? Those poor people have lost their lives and their families have been devastated because someone lost control for whatever reason NOT because of police incompetence.0 -

Don't be fooled these cuts are not the only way. The coalition government are chosing to carry out these cuts and they don't even have a proper mandate.
Fact. As a nation, we are in debt to the tune of 750-850,000,000,000.
Fact. This year we are running a deficit of £156bn. In other words we are spending £156,000,000,000 more than we earn.
Fact. That deficit, unless curbed, will increase the overall debt to an estimated £1.4 trillion in a few years, if continued at the current pace.
Fact. As our debt increases and the burden on interest grows, it is likely to affect our credit rating, meaning interest rate payments on that debt will grow.
It is a spiral which is getting out of control
What other strategy is there besides cuts?
I think we'd all like to know.0 -

For a start, lets sell off all the art and antiques that are used to decorate government and public properties. Prints will do. We should scap trident and stop thinking our army needs to police the world and stop wasting money and lives all over the world. Also, why should our overseas aid money be ring fenced? I believe in giving, but theres either a financial crisis or there isn't. As unpopular as it will be, why not raise the retirement age? I dont expect to live long enough to collect a pension but unless you are sick, its probably better to keep working. But if a thieving bummer on those who have paid in already, but unless we increase our population it has been a flawed model for a very long time, especially when people keep on living longer.
And, benefit claimants should have to do some work of some kind in order to recieve benefits, preferably things that will benefit the nation as a whole - litter picking - recycling - clearing graffiti, anything that makes Britain a better place to be.
Stop Child benefit after 2 children - we have to put an end to breeding as a career choice. As always it'll be the kids who suffer, but the only alternative is to keep the status quo.
The Government must close tax loopholes for the rich and big business which allows them to employ many and varied means to avoid paying. Same goes for busineses who have tangled company webs ending up with all their profits being made by a shell company in the Cayman Islands. And somehow, the City of London needs to be forced to start investing and stop gambling.

OK, you got me - I give up. What's the answer?
Hope this helps
