Fabia VRS sounds a good idea to me. It looks hot, its quick and it'll do 50mpg at least.

    Or even this one?

It's a very reliable engine, good interior spec with quite a bit of electrics, pas/airbags/computer/cd etc and my mum's got one, so I know they are quick and cheap to maintain as all I've had to do on hers (since new) is a temp sender for £15 and regular servicing since 2004.

Plus at this price you're saving 2500? It's a bit of a no-brainer if you ask me

    Really good call that !
Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.

Another VAG brand and they're pretty solid tbh.

I'd probably buy a Skoda with my own money though - they're a fair bit cheaper for basically the same cars.

Pretty spot on. Seat are trying to brand themselves as the sporty younger brother of VW and Audi, and the Leon with the same engine is very pokey too, but you'll pay more money for it with a Seat badge.

The latest copy of Whatcar magazine contains the results if its latest JD power survey whichs gets feedback from actual car owners. It covers what owners think of the cars, the dealers, the service they provide and reliability etc. The Fiat Grand Punto came 101 out of 104 cars listed! It states for the Grand Punto that owners were critical of the cost of servicing, the dealers staff and the work they carried out together with lots of problems with the cars.

The best superminis were the Honda Jazz, Toyota Yaris & Mazda 2

Maybe they are initially, but probably not in the long run and you don't get an almost permanent parking space at some Fiat dealership.

In fairness, my Aunt, myself and a mate all own newer Fiats and we haven't had anything serious- mind you the same can be said for the Skoda I had prior. I think the main problem is the dealers are fairly hopeless at fixing things properly when they go wrong and it leads to succession of faults. When I had some stuff that had worked loose- no doubt due to bumps it took some time to fix it, but not too bad. The Fiat dealer is cheaper but the knowledge to me is night and day between the Skoda franchise. No matter- got a good independent near us.
