The latest copy of Whatcar magazine contains the results if its latest JD power survey whichs gets feedback from actual car owners. It covers what owners think of the cars, the dealers, the service they provide and reliability etc. The Fiat Grand Punto came 101 out of 104 cars listed! It states for the Grand Punto that owners were critical of the cost of servicing, the dealers staff and the work they carried out together with lots of problems with the cars.

The best superminis were the Honda Jazz, Toyota Yaris & Mazda 2

Thank you, I really dont know what car to buy, we are trying to sell out Citroen C2 and dont know if we should buy a Corsa 1.7 diesel or a Fiat, the trouble is there is hardly and Corsa's for sale with the spec that we want i.e (diesel 1.7 cdti sxi and 3 doors).

Where else can I look for cars, I have done ebay, autotrader.

    Thanks

My missus has one and it has been excellent.

Looks nice, drives well and is comfortable.

We know that their dealer network is poor so use a trusted repairer who keeps it in tip top condition.

Personally, I would happily recommend one (so much so that her sister bought one on our experience and is really pleased with it too).
Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.

Punto's can be a bit more hit and miss than other makes, I have one and its power steering motor failed (a known problem on the punto) only warning is the power steering light on and heavy steering then its all ok for a while then it does it again, then it does it again and fails completly, expensive unless you source parts off ebay and have a freindly mechanic even then it several hundred pounds, but it doesnt happen to all of them and newer models are less prone to the fault I believe but beware!!!.

Another problem with earlier ones is the cylinder head gasket failing.

If you can stretch to buying Japanese do or maybe go for small Ford, though I dont like their styling there is a lot of choice and inexpensive to maintain.

If you want more info on the Fiat..

Keep your unhelpful comments to yourself please. I am buying what I can afford. What would you recommend I buy?

There are ways and means of getting a good car for a reasonable fee. What's your budget and criteria then?! As a rule, German and Jap are best, and avoid French and Italian at all costs...but it's a broad rule!

In a word .... yes, a Panda is a better built car, if you really must buy a Fiat.
