Knowing my neighbours are out and having been asked to walk their dog, :j I duly let my self into their house, with given key, without knocking, after all they are out~~ call for the dog, who is fine and wagging at me, to hear a voice in the kitchen :eek: telling someone what to cook in what order.......(but they are out, my brain goes) so I call out, who is there, whilst backing towards the front door for a quick getaway, (my mind is now thinking burglars, the dog and food go well together, and he is a real softy, so wouldn't attack)

To hear my male neighbour reply it is me Kaz :rotfl::rotfl: oh I go, you are ment to be out, he tell me he is ill, and has walked the dog, and he is teaching one of the overseas students that stays with them, how to cook shepherds pie!! :rotfl::rotfl:

Am I alone in thinking it is best to stay well away from the dark side? Does it matter what some faceless person thinks? The more we respond the more they will prod. Resist the temptation and it will just go away. I can't read it becusae I have most of them on ignore already :p. I get bored of dealing with pointless conflict at work, never mind on here. I personally don't give a monkeys what anyone else thinks - this thread works for me.

    Off to eat cake :D.

lol, i'm steadfastly ignoring most of the tripe being posted down there. I don't care if they think we're 'sad' or whatever. I like our little community up here, for me it's not so much about the housework, it's about the fantastic support that everyone receives. It doesn't matter who you are or why you are here - everyone is treated the same and welcomed without question. When one of us has a problem or needs help, the flyladies come to the rescue, sometimes on elephants but i think the less said about that the better:rotfl:Like smurfs, there is a flylady for every occassion;)

the late night bargains on the market was simply the rank junk they would bin an hour later and as such not worth the effort.

I know what you mean. Some of the things in Sheff were like that, but a lot was good for same week-end batch cooking/freezing. Was looking forward to some soup/fruit puree for smoothies.

I thought about posting on there after a quick look, but resisted the temptation and I haven't been back to look at that thread since. I'm with hex on this one. Can I come for some cake? :D

    Boo!

Not got a hope in hell of catching up. Sorry I've not been around but it's been an extraordinarily busy week.

Tea party went very well last Saturday. The weather stayed fine so we were able to take tea outside with the gentle thock of leather on willow and the occasional "howzat!" in the background soooo English :D.

DiL's grandma is lovely even though the extent of her English is "hello" and "thankyou". She brought us presents from Iran. It's difficult to believe she was married off (arranged) at 14 years old.....

Since then it's been manic. I had a talk to do on Tuesday evening and when I looked at what I had on Saturday evening, it needed more. Cue lots of rewriting so all spare time Sunday and Monday were taken up with prepping, practising and honing. BB knows the talk off by heart by now!

But, finally, Tuesday night, I delivered a very polished local history talk lasting about 50 minutes to an audience of around 45 people. The feedback from the audience was very good so I am proud of myself. I achieved.... though I am still a little hoarse from having to project my voice because the mic wasn't working properly....

Then I'm "helping" organise this summer fair thing. Though it seems I'm having to do the organising as no-one else seems to be taking the lead. (Rach will understand and know from past experience that, when there's a group organising something and no-one takes the lead, muggins here steps in and does it...).

So, I had two meetings after work on Wednesday afternoon/evening relating to it, and another on Thursday. Plus lots of background work in between. Friday, I just turned the phone off and locked the door...

Today has been spent deep cleaning because the house had become a tip. And shopping for food. I never got to the shops last weekend so I've had some v. interesting dinners out of stuff lying around this week.

I think my piece de resistance was a pasta dish made up from the nub end of the smoked salmon that went inthe sandwiches last Saturday gently warmed in a bit of milk then a tablespoon of Phildelphia cream cheese thrown in with some finely chopped grapes (left from last weekend), heated through until it all melted and then mixed with the pasta. It was surprisingly yummy.

Tonight is steak and salad. I've earned it!

How are you all - can someone give me a run down of the week's dramas and successes in two minutes?
