On occasions a non-business seller may not be able to post the item straight away e.g. if the item is big, they work full time and take the train to work then they may only be able to post it on a Saturday. If you pay for the item on Saturday afternoon then it's a week before the seller can get the item to the post office.0 -
I agree with the comments about sellers taking a long time to post. Sometimes I wonder though if they actually want a sale. I had to buy a gaming mouse as a present the other day, and was due to go out at 3pm to buy it. I found about 5 companies selling it on ebay for about £15 cheaper. I emailed each one of them asking if I was to "BIN" and pay immediatly, would they be able to post it recorded delivery the same day, and if so what time would I have to buy/pay for it. NOT ONE of these sellers replied in the four or five hours before I had to go out. Obviously I did not take the risk and bought it from PC World.2011: £10 Sports Direct Voucher, Peppa Pig Wii Game, Trivial Pursuit Card Game, £100 Chat magazine win, Dance workout dvd, Grease wii game,0

Then possibly with buyers expecting a more professional service sellers should consider whether or not they can run an ebay business.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Then maybe they should make this clear on their listings, that they will be a delay in posting and the reason and then buyers would probably be more understandingMany thanks to the wonderful staff at Birmingham Childrens Hospital caring for my tiny and very poorly grandson who was born at 29 weeks. Thanks to them he is getting a little stronger every day.:A:A:A0 -

I have chatted with people who can only post once a week and have suggested to them that they should make this clear in their listings as well as putting their despatch time at up to 7 days. Without fail they tell me they can't do that as no one will buy from them anymore, so they prefer to set their default at around 3 days max and hope people will forgive them for posting late.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I just can't get my head around this. One would have to assume they don't just do it to you. Therefore their DSR for despatch times must be low? Therefore why buy from them?
And for the poster who didn't get a reply within four hours. Being a business on ebay doesn't mean you have loads of staff, you have to go source the stuff now and again. If you needed something urgently, don't use the internet. An instant reply would not guarantee delivery in time.0 -

Yes but it only takes a minute to send a quick message explaining there will be a delay. Sorry but there is no excuse! I sell on ebay occasionally and have a full time job but still manage to post within one day. I always send a message when I have posted it too.My daughters are my world0 -
I am a seller on ebay and I have my listings as I will send within 3 working days of payment being received. I however suffer with fibromyalgia so sometimes it does get to the point where I am bed bound and cannot get to the post office or get online to tell people. Please don't assume that every seller is lying to you.0

Unfortunately buyers do expect their items in the time frame outlined in the auction. If through no fault of your own you cannot post in that time frame you will start to be marked down badly and maybe even get to the point where your stars make it difficult to sell. Having heard every excuse under the sun from sellers genuine excuses will just be lumped into the same pot and people who geuinely have had a problem will lose out.
All you can do is add a brief note to your auctions about the fact that on rare occasions you may have to delay sending items. If you always get the stuff out in say a week say that as well, if longer warn about that. It will affect your sales but it might save your stars. Hard as it might seem if i buy something I do expect it fairly quickly and if I see that on occasions i may have a wait from a certain seller I would prefer to know up front so I can make my decision to buy based on whether I could afford to wait if necessary.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. The thing is there are so many excuses used that most people have to assume they are fake. As a buyer not to sound harsh I really don't care what illness trauma anyone has had. I have parted with my hard earned cash and I would like the item within a reasonable time.
I have before as a seller had personal events that have caused me to post late. I never gave my buyers a run down of all the events or a blow by blow account of my personal problems. All I did was apologise and state that a personal matter had caused a problem. I then gave them a refund of the postage cost as an apology. Thats the sort of service I personally would expect from others.
If you are unable due to any reason stick to reasonable postage times or even communicate or get anyone to do that for you.I would reconsider if using ebay is best for you as it won't take long for your DSRs to drop into very poor territory your sales and prices will drop and you could risk possible suspension.0
