Sick of sellers excuses for delayed posting of ebay items.

This is not the first time this has happened, bought an item off ebay, waited and waited for it, no item and no emails.
I message the seller through ebay asking where the item is and they message back the same day saying they've been ill and it is being posted today.
Why couldn't they have let me know when the item ended that they were ill. Surely they weren't so ill that they couldn't type?
Why the sudden recovery when I message them asking where the item is?
Has anyone else had any annoying excuses from sellers for why their item is delayed?

Yeh, sometimes. But you can never be sure if they're being genuine or telling porkies. It's annoying.0

Trouble is, the masses make it bad for the few. Last year I had swine flu and was in hospital and ill for about 6 weeks in total, I mean ill. Couldn't sit, stand, eat or drink. Was drip fed and slowly recovered. Then we were hit by the worst floods in history.
Despite this, my business continued initially (whilst ill) thanks to staff, friends and family but during the first part of the floods, for about 3 days we had no electricity, internet, nothing, this was aside of the warehouse flooding (3ft)!
However, I can put my hand on my heart and say that no customer went without contact from us, we had to use a cafe for the internet connection (Ebay tried to ban me for being on a different ISP!). However, we managed it.
It really p1$$es me when sellers are just plain lazy/liars and con artists. I hope none of these applies to your purchase and that your seller was really ill.
Karma. What goes around, comes around quicker!0 -
I just assume now they are lying, especially when they forget we can see they are still bidding or listing new things!
I always mark them down in the stars as well if they do not stick to their despatch time.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Forget alcohol, smoking, obesity etc...
Based on my experience with buyers and sellers, I'm sure Ebay auction end is the biggest contributor to poor health in the UK! Everyone seems to become ill/ dead/ hospitalised as soon as the auction ends.
Perhaps the NHS could commission a study.:)0 -

You are either buying off the wrong people, or it's personal. If the feedback on despatch times is ok, it's personal. If it's not, know what to expect.0

I had a seller post three weeks after payment!
No explaination, nothing. I was just thinking of chasing them as well. This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine.0 -
Its a shame as I dont believe anyone who says they are ill anymore. Im a little more lenient if I see they havent had any action on their account in the mean time, but if they are well enough to list things they are well enough to email me to let me know there is a delay.0

To be fair, (and this does annoy me) there are a lot of things that are automated, it doesn't mean the seller is online, or even alive.
You can list, leave feedback, bid and even send invoices without being anywhere near your Ebay account.
But there is NO excuse for bad customer service.0 -
For balanced viewpoint and I am not a seller, you also get same excuses for buyers "sorry I changed my mind" or "sorry I clicked by mistake" or "sorry I didnt log off and my 5 years old bid"
Yea ebay is a real addiction for someForget alcohol, smoking, obesity etc...
