It does not matter if the TVs are on or not, if the signal is split 4 ways then each tv is getting less than 25% of the original signal.

Apologies to original poster but can I ask a question about this.

I have one tv fed from aerial and getting a strong signal. I want to put a tv in another room and feed from the same aerial. I was just going to get a non amplified splitter.

As both tvs will never be on together I assumed I would not lose any signal strength, your post is making me rethink this. Am I wrong?

You will lose some signal strength no matter if the TVs are both switched on or not.

It may not be a problem though if you have a decent enough signal

Hi,OK, Been on roof all morning, all I wanted was EMU with me.Emley Moor maintain aerial should be horizontal, I had mine vertical, as instructions with supplier. However, tried it, worse, so back to vertical.I have 6 tv,s, not being posh:signsl to all tv,s perfect, with booster, but Only BBC not available on 3, via freeview.According to Emley Moor, I am in top area for reception, but, hoping it picks up when they have upgraded.Strange how signal alters from 1 tv to another, the worst has the shortest run, and longest run, at present.I know people who do not need an aerial by me, it,s pot luck where you are and your aerial.Good luck

Hi, I noticed today that my televe 45 aerial has mrd, but I didn,t put power supply to it, didn,t know to be honest. Would I be better to power that up, and can it be used in conjunction with 4amp, oe 6amp, booster?

A 2way splitter will split your signal in half, there will also be some small extra losses.
The TV On or Off makes NO difference.

If it works (Which is more than likely), good stuff, if not simply replace and amplify.
    >90% of the time this sort of work is quite simple.

Your installation needs to be looked at with a trained eye and a meter, you are working blind and you can throw time and money at it but if it works it will just be luck.

You dont know if the signal is too strong, too weak or simply the poor installation.

The aerial needs to be horizontal for Emily moor the fact your picture improves when Vert probably shows that you have the wrong aerial in gain and probably group (Group B or Wideband?), the signal is then being needlessly and incorrectly amplified and distributed..

Is all well and good getting stuck into diy, Ive flooded my house more than once, but I would recommend buying or renting a proper meter as no one can help you without the data.

Just follow the very good advice given by Kurtis Blue, you seem to be running around in circles.

Hi, Kurtis_blue, you are no doubt right, It appears I am having MUX1 problems according to an engineer I was chatting to, possibly due to works on Emley Moor, which finish in a week. I will wait till then, and do as you say. Thanks for all your advice.

Hi, Just been doing a bit of research, reading up on digital. I have 2 DAB radios, and fm,s. I know that if I move them, or don,t have the aerials fully extended, the signal breaks up.So that sinifies to me that digital, here, is not 100%.As I don,t move the radios, that,s ok, no probs. When analogue is turned off, I will be totally, as everyone else, be reliant on digital quality, which as it also comes from Emley Moor, I know can be Iffy.As SFI, and other interference, affects analogue, does the same interference apply to digital signal, trees in leaf, I,m surrounded by them.I , being a pessimist, think, digital is not going to be all it,s expected to be, time will tell.3G comes to mind.Things are supposed to improve with age and experience. If so, digressing, if we evolved from apes, why are there still apes? Any thoughts ? Cheers
