A quick note regarding boobs. I had a chronic allergic reaction to Kamillosan (almost unheard of), resulting in my body shedding layer after layer of skin from my nipples to defend itself from the stuff.
Nightmare, infection got in, mastitis resulted, and boy did I feel ill. Got through it, BF a breeze within 4 weeks.
Anyhoo, the fave applicant for bosoms is... Savoy cabbage. Keep it in the fridge, and rinse a good green outer leaf under the cold tap. Apply to bosom, and oooh, the relief from the cold cabbage. The enzymes in it keep nipples in good condition, clear up sore bits, and prevent infection.
Funny when you take the leaf out of your bra to feed though, cos it's cooked. LOL. You odn't need to wash boob before feeding either, but I do wonder if the milk tastes cabbagy?I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -
My midwife told me the majority poo, but normally don't know!
My nightmare was trying to poo to get out of hospital. Pushing was not something I every wanted to do again at the point!0 -
Lol @ trying to poo to get out.:rotfl:
I was desperate to get home - being in a ward with 5 other babies squealing all night was doing my head in....after 1 night of that I was determined to get out - so when the nurse said that once I had produced a large enough urine sample I could go..........I peed in the damn measuring jug, then added some tap water to bulk it up a bit..

DD3 was born in her membrane too. Apparently it means she'll never drown. It's a nice thing to hear your midwife say.:beer:I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Hi Just spent all evening reading this fantastic thread. It has made me even more broodier (such a word?) than I was before. Already have a four yr old and a 9 mth old both boys. After the first (10lb 1oz) I swore never to have any more. It was a horrendous experience and the 4 day hospital stay was made worse by overstretched and grumpy midwives. Never have a baby in London!!!
Second time round (9lb 15oz) was so much better. No forceps this time and the midwives were fantastic came out of the hospital the same day. When he was 3 weeks old I told DH a wanted another. He finally gave in when DS2 was 6 months. Been TTC ever since. Unfortunately he's just gone to Afghanistan for 6 months so we've had to put things on hold. I so desperately want to be pregnant again and its such a long way off!!!
I would also love a home birth, but we are in Germany now for three years and do not know how possible this could be. It will be hard enough not knowing what the doctors are talking about when I'm in hospital!!!0 -
Just wanted to agree with the savoy cabbage post - fantastic for sore boobs!!
I 'exaggerated' my bowel movements too, just to stop the endless stream of nurses pestering me about whether or not i'd 'been' yet - I'm 25, I dont want to talk to you about my poo, thanks all the same!! hahahahaha!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -

bye bye hospital:D
Eeek, don't blame you there
I told the midwives that I was going home and that was it - I just said that I'd sleep far better in my own bed than I would have done in a maternity ward. After a bit of negotiation, I left the hospital at 8.30pm. DS was born at 1.50pm that day.
