yenom wrote:just wondering if anyone had morning sickness right from the onset of pregnancy ?
yes, felt sick and kept falling asleep even before my period was late. Baby wasn't planned, so it didn't even occur to me at the time that thats what it might be.0 -
The best thing is you have your baby and forget about the labour pains.
The worst thing is you get pregnant again and it all comes flooding back.
And those after pains my god i asked the midwife if i was having another.
and here i am ready to go through it all again with my 4thNumber 4 due 21st jan0 -
I might sound really weird here but I can't wait to sniff my babies head....I love that newborn smell. I have 7 weeks to go and I am SOOOOOO excited!!!!
I went to the NCT sale and bought lots of little girls outfits, if I hadn't been pregnant then that would of made me soooo broody. I can't wait to hold her in my arms and snuggle her. My son put his face on my (massive) belly and said 'Morning baby, I love you, stop kicking mummy'Oh....I'm not going to lie to you......At the end of the day, when alls said and done......do you know what I mean.........TIDY0 -

I have just spent most f the afternoon reading this thread from start to finish - and I have never laughed so much at posts!!
Thank you ladies, for your brutal honesty - if I'm honest it's nice to know that my own labours weren't as bad as they could have been!
DS1- Had contractions all day, hardly felt a thing, got into delivery, had epidural and was thinking it was a breeze - then found out he had a heart murmur, so had to have a monitor attached to him while he was still inside....ew.
Then the wee rascal didn't want to come out - they tried the vacuum...didn't
work, by this time they were really worried about his heart so I was whisked off to theatre for forceps delivery. I will never forget the surgeon pulling on the baby and the whole damn table going skiting towards him....
DS2 - Didn't want to come out either (I must have a really comfy womb or something!) he was 10 days overdue so I had to be induced.
All went well until the epidural - I swear that was the most painful part..I felt the thing going into my spine, and have a loss of feeling in that area over a year later. Anyway the wee one was delivered normally and I remember thinking well at least I don't have to have stitches THIS time......until I got an examination and the doc said there was a large haemotoma (sp?) which would need to be drained...so I was whisked off to theatre again.....10 people surrounding me while my bits were sorted and stitched...who mentioned dignity? I have no idea what that is...Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Hi,
Only just found this thread - it made me laugh! I have 2 kiddies- youngest 9 months. I must say the midwives were brill both times really. The thing I recall most about being pregnant is that every time I saw, read about, or heard about anything to do with babies I cried! I couldn't read Mother and Baby without crying. I became obsessed with all those baby programmes on Sky - and just cried when I watched them! It has had some lasting effect though.... even now when I think about being pregnant or the first few hours of my babies being born I cry! Does this mean I should have another??? I still can't decide. I absolutely love the thought of being pregnant (rather than the reality - although I never got morning sickness and was well both times) and those first few hours after having a baby. When hubby goes home and it is just you and them. AAAhhhhhh - tears in my eyes now! Is this justification for another? I don't know. We are happy as we are and probably couldn't really 'afford' another - they are expensive aren't they? But never to have those few hours again................(I sound insane don't I - really I'm not!)

well my birth was pretty normal PAINFULL! the only strange thing was that i was screaming and swearing about how much i dislike mr blair and when the aneastist stuck the thing in the wrong place and all the blood squirted out all over his uniform and shoes i turned to him (nice looking young man lol) i like to make my mark love!
normal compared to my sisters pre-eclampsia and severe HELP syndrome my niece was born weighing 1lb 13oz but the love of our family and the care and attention of the staff at queen charlottes hospital in london pulled her through and she is now a wonderful beautiful 4 year old albeit a little naughty one!"You have succeeded in life when all you really want is only what you really need"

My OH and I are thinking of having a baby in the next few years and my goodness this thread has been an eye opener.
I started reading it as I thought it might put me off having a baby for a little while. However, I must say that it hasn't (am I odd???)
I am not the most assertive person and this is the main thing that concerns me with some of the posts I have read. Must learn to stand up for myself with the midwives if it is nessary.
I do like the thought of a water birth though (always have).
Thanks again everyone.
Not sure how to thank everyone for the posts using the thank you button
Being assertive with your first bambino is dead hard. You don't knwo what's normal, no matter how much you've read, so you rely on teh experts to look after you. Which they do, but it may not be what you'd opt for with the benefit of hindsight.
This is hwy all the books recommend making a birth plan, if you think you have any particular desires for the big day.
Basically, if something feels right, do it, if it doesn't, don't. If the experts disagree, ask them why, or train OH to ask on your behalf.
Good luck, I can assure you, a more wonderful outcome to put the pain etc. behind you will never be beheld.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0
