hello all - I too like the duck idea how very cute but its a pity its not fundraising in some ways - will go off to study the page more - I just had a thought that Iwonder what all my neighbours would think if they came out of their door and found a duck........ some of them sadly would probably start to panic that someone was trying to do something to them in some weird way anyway will have a think on this one xx
William in a cast for three more weeks :eek::eek: poor poor little chap, I have a very weird way of when Im knitting or laying in the bath I think of people, friends you know who you are (now you know I am very weird if Im thinking of you in the bath ............ say no more!!!) Im wondering are you all ok, waiting for operations, over the sea and waiting to sell houses, in your poly tunnel, eating gorgeous food in a spanish restaurant hooking with large balls of wool, playing with grandchildren, hubbies playing with train tracks
(I think some things stick in that daft memory of mine) need i say more BUT i think of you all a lot of the time and often feel sad when things are bad and just wish the Sunshine Bus could come and make everything right
There getting all emotional now .......... xx
Well I'm still battling the craft room, am knitting away when I can.
Hubby has been told to be on standby for operation but it could still be up to 10 weeks he needs it sooner rather than later as they think the Orbital cellulitis could come back as his polyps have returned in full force:(:(
Mojo is returning slowly and Edna is only very part time visitor at the moment so fingers crossed she is getting ready to leave but will not be sending her in any of your directions
Much love

Hello everyone,
I'm hoping to join in on the knitting fun, but I'm wondering is there a "knitting level" for those who would like to join?
I started knitting in 2012 and have knitted an adult basic knit stitch scarf, a pair of baby booties, 2 childrens zig zag scarves, an adult hat with a 1x1 rib border and I'm currently completing my first baby cardigan. I have no idea if the quality of my knitted creations will be good enough for the charities....
I really like knitting. I first started it just to learn an old craft and keep it alive, but now it's really helping to keep me busy during my hospital visits or when my energy is low. It's a nice way to pass the time and I love the feeling of seeing a finished piece knowing I made it.0 -

I've been lurking for a very long time, but this was something that is very close to my heart so I'm creeping out of the shadows!
Thanks for posting this, Anakat. I read about this project with interest. It's not just about making cute little ducks and leaving them somewhere for someone to find and enjoy, even though this is a lovely thing to do.
It's also about raising awareness of blood, organ and tissue donation. I myself suffer from a rare and incurable liver disease called Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis. It is thought to be an autoimmune disease (like, for instance Multiple sclerosis or rheumatoid arthritis) and is not caused by lifestyle choices. I say this because most people hear the words liver disease and immediately think "alcohol abuse"! Anyway, I am fortunate that it does not affect me too badly at the moment. Many sufferers go on to need a liver transplant, and there are not enough livers to go around, especially as there is so much "lifestyle choice" liver disease around these days.
So I would urge you all, if you have not already done so, to join the organ donor register, and, just as importantly, let your loved ones know your wishes.
You never know when you, or someone you know or love, will need an organ or tissue donation.
By all means make some little ducks too. I even have a pattern for a duck hand puppet on my blog that you could try if you wish!
Best wishes to you all. Thanks for reading to here!

Sorry, my signature is way out of date!
I'd like to second this seeing as in October 2013 I was diagnosed with medulla cystic kidney disease stage 4. I'm currently on the transplant list here in France, but my health has deteriorated too much so I will be having an operation this weekend to start dialysis. Organ donation is something a lot of people forget about - I kept putting off being a donor before this happened to me. Now I'm a donor in the UK and France and will be donating everything but my 2 dodgey kidneys obviously0 -
Collieheartsyou welcome to our little group. please dont think your knitting wont be good enough, a basic hat knitted with love will keep a cold homeless head warm at night as will squares knitted up into blankets.
for baby items id say hospitals probably prefer that plain knitted hats and blankets as they are less likely to catch little fingers in holes like lacey patterned ones.
i think the main thing is feeling you are happy with what you are knitting, youve mentioned that you knit during hospitla visits so maybe as a way of saving postage you could ask when you are there if there are any items they need.
or if you have an help the aged shop local you could maybe knit the little instant smoothie hats and take in there.
because postage is now so high i think we all prefer to knit for local charities so we can hand deliver where possible.
if you have any questions please feel free to ask.
janet i love the idea of the little ducks, and yes i have filled in the organ donation form and ticked a few of the boxes. planning on hanging on to my items for a good while yet but once ive finished with them they are up for grabs

Just got back from the dentist OH had a crown come off so went in to have it reglued, dentist said the roots are crumbling so will need an x-ray, I suspect it is something to do with the radiotherapy as it's the same side of his face as the cancer was...he has an appointment soon at the dental hospital in Birmingham so dentist told him to make an appointment for after that...
Took Mom some shopping in earlier and she looked a bit shook up.. she had a tumble last night but luckily landed on her chair I said why didn't you ring me "I don't like to trouble you" she said. I can't seem to get it through to her it is no trouble at all...

Had THE CALL this morning........have to go into hospital next Tuesday for op on Wednesday.
SIGH, better get cracking on the wip's which need finishing. I want to start a fresh project when I get home. Will be doing some granny squares to keep my mind busy during Tuesday, nothing too taxing.
Brain is buzzing just now with what needs doing before I go in. Been prepared so often already eg fill up freezer, it's been filled and emptied, refilled and almost empty again.:p
