and double awww the making spot where lots of the patterns are from has closed down
hugs to all
hoping the weather picks up or i'll have a soggy little boy walking in the peaks today (he set off at 7am this morning when it looked ok but now its looking pants!) luckily ive packed him off with layers and a couple of waterproofs
There's a free little owl pattern on Ravelry.

You need to be a member, but it's free to sign up. Not sure what size they come out, but it should be fairly simple to re-size with thinner yarn/smaller needles if necessary.

Hello one and all... Lots of gentle thoughts and love tucked in.
We have had a busy( watching) morning. We have a very large old lemon tree in our front garden which has been taking all the light and fighting back viciously when pruning was needed. So, in our best Spanglesh we arranged for a Spanish. Señor and his son to come and take it away. What a job!!! Anyway we now have light, space and the chance to make it into a cacti/ succulent garden. What a result.
On the crafting front I have finished the second Momma blanket. I can do tedious but just going around and around a metre square is very boring!
So, now I am getting a little hat obsession going on. Trying a crochet pattern with a stitch around the front of the post which gives an almost ribbed effect.
This pile is going to Greenfirlds and latest post on my blog is all about it if you want a look.
Ok will do my update tomorrow.... It's lovely to be joining in again on the charity front.Try and do a good deed every day.0 -
Hi everyone from a cold but sunny part of France. It really has turned a lot colder here, which I don't like! I think it's only for a day or two, apparently.
I think, hopefully, that I will be getting the sewing machine out tomorrow to make some curtains for our almost-finished bathroom, so wish me luck! I shall try simple tab-top curtains and see how I get on. If you never hear about them again it means that I didn't do a very good job and don't want to talk about them!
I had a delivery of books this morning that I ordered last Saturday and was not expecting for ages. I was told about a UK website called Awesome Books that delivers books to any destination in the world with no charge for shipping. I managed to find three books that I have been looking for (I'm on a Bill Bryson binge at the moment). They were 'used' so only cost £2.49 each but they are all in excellent condition and are great value for money, and I can pass them on when I have read them. I have no idea how they manage to provide free shipping but it's a great service, especially for ex-pats! I know everyone is going Kindle-mad, but I really do love the 'feel' of a real book!
I am crocheting more squares to use up odds and ends of wool, and I am also making a scarf for my Mum for Christmas. I have doubled up on DK wool so that it's nice and chunky, and using one of the plastic crochet hooks that I bought in Lidl's yesterday. It's a lovely hook to use because it stays warm to the touch!
Chalky - sounds like you will make good use of the space where the lemon tree was!
Jean - how is your DH, and his man-flu and blisters? I hope he is on he mend now.
My cough really has finally gone now and didn't wake me up once in the night, which is a first for a while.
Along with finishing off the bathroom, DH has also been doing some plastering in the dining room half of my kitchen where we had a bad roof leak last autumn that has taken months to dry out. He was finally able to plaster the wall yesterday and next week, so I've been told, we are putting down a new wood floor. It's good to be getting it all done but why is this sort of thing so disruptive?
Anyway, I'd better go and start the dinner. Hope you all have a great evening!

As per usual Im here apologising for my lack of being here
Am off to read back over the last few days, but just from reading a few comments I see a lot have been suffering with the dreaded lurgy, so am hoping we are all fighting fit again.
As I also hope roamins hubbies feet are healing - although Im wondering if you could pay for trip over so that I can tend to his feet for you Jean, dear me wont touch his feet .......... :rotfl:
Could you tell him that should I attend I would fetch warm bowl of water for him to first soak, towel dry gently for him, apply soothing cream and then bind supportively ...........:):D Im just creeping and getting on his good side so that maybe next year when you are in UK he will bring you to visit me xxxx (although I have been known to rub cream in hubbies feet - do you think I pamper my man too much and guess what I REALLY HATE FEET!)
Ive had a bit of a habit this week with knitting hats - adult through to tiny preemie I now need to sew them up though yuk! don't think they will be done to update tomorrow so will add them to next weeks
Sending lots of hugs and hope you are all ok and well - thinking of you all xxxxxxDebt Diary: Im not going to be an Ostrich anymore -LBM - 16/1/12 /0 -

UPDATE
10 adult earflap hats
Am just getting a wee bit fed up with the seafarer hats, so perhaps next week I will try something else for a wee change......
Due to monster watch starting mid week so I will be missing for about 10 days - making sure I am taking some yarn, needles and hooks tho' I have to have something to keep me sane in between cooking, taxi driving, cleaning and generally screaming at the three boys. I might even get onto a computer if I can shut them all in the toilet for a wee while! Lots of love and cuddles to you all - we have some sunshine but it went down to zero last night so I believe the colder weather is on its way.........The Hooligan Wooligan – age 9¾

Colder weather definitely here. Nip in the air this morning and getting dark earlier now too. WINTER is on it`s way. DS was tempted to light the fire this afternoon but decided he`d be better sweeping the chimney first, a job for next weekend then.
Been having a very lazy weekend. Was supposed to be working but was sent home on Friday as I took a dizzy, light headed turn, hot and sweaty. Had to go and sit down for a while and boss thought I was having a heart attack. Got home and went to bed for a couple of hours, sound asleep. Felt more like flu on saturday, so rang in and asked for today off as well. Fortunately have some hols to take before the end of the year so won`t lose any wages. Feeling a bit better now, just very tired and `washed out`. On hols this week anyway so plenty of time to recover.
Had a laugh today. A certain young man of my close acquaintance (little J) thinks he will ask for a penguin for Christmas.
Not just ANY old penguin tho`. He wants a red one with a black hat !! His mummy says that they can ask Santa for one but it might be an ordinary black and white one. `Aww man, I really want a red one though.` was the reply.:rotfl:
Like others, I`ve been doing quite a few hats lately, finished the blanket with the `unclassified`yarn I bought and now halfway through a pixie type hat with the other ball, so might have to dig out the penguin patterns next. Toys are really not my favourite project but I will have a go.
Roamin - enjoy your time with the monsters. Is there a tree you could tie them to with the duct tape ?;)
Kathy - good luck with the plastering and flooring. I`m STILL waiting for my kitchen to be done. It was started long before Jim died and has been ignored ever since. Just CBA.
Must have a look at that book website. I like real books too although I keep thinking about a Kindle or similar.
Chalky - yoga.............I`d be too stiff and as flexible as a breeze block to try that
Lots of MIA`s / old friends who haven`t been here of late.
:hello: hope you are OK if you are lurking. Do pop in and say hello if you are. No need for a long post, just a quick hello will do.
Off to do a few more rows of pixie before bed time.Fully paid up member of S.A.B.L.E.
