Hi everyone
Jean - I hope you have a wonderful first day back in the sweatshop! I know how hard it's been for you without it!
Mrs Moneypenny - good luck to your MIL with the blood tests.
Ginnyknit - thinking about you and your OH.
Shaz - good luck to your mum.
F1 - hope you are doing well.
Well, despite all intentions to be online over the last few days, events have taken over. First of all, a friend who had asked his mother to come to stay with him for a holiday had to go back to the UK for a funeral, which meant her being on her own for a few days. She had his lovely border collie puppy for company, but I spent some of the daytime with her. She can't get out under her own steam because she depends on a mobile scooter, so I took her out shopping, too. Anyway, her son came back on Sunday. Then we had a major burst pipe in a part of the house that we haven't renovated yet. Of course, it happened just as we sat down for an hour in the evening. The spray was so bad we had to investigate using umbrellas and a torch, and we were both in our dressing gowns having had a shower. It was too dark to do anything so we had to fill a few buckets then turn the water off until the morning; luckily, DH was able to fix it temporarily.
Another disaster was at the holiday home I look after. I had spent all Saturday morning getting it ready for guests that were coming on Sunday. They phoned me up to say that the electricity had stopped working, so I had to phone the 24/7 emergency hotline (which is not 24/7 because they close for lunch!). They said they would send someone out yesterday afternoon; I had no faith that anyone would turn up but they did, so that was another problem sorted. It has been a really busy few days.
I treated myself to a halogen oven; I ordered it from Amazon UK on Tuesday and it was here three days later, which was amazing, considering it had to cross the channel. I was longing to use it but couldn't find the time until Sunday but, since then, I have made a cake, cooked a chicken carcase, and made a roast dinner, all without using my main oven. I am completely won over;I bought it to save on electricity because the bills here are so high due to the number of taxes that are added. Halogen ovens apparently use far less power than conventional ovens, and they cook more quickly, too, so I shall see how it goes. If it can cut down on oven cleaning, too, then it will be even better!
Jean, I still haven't placed an order with Marriner Wools, but I hope to do that later on today.
I will try and do the update later on today.
Hope you all have a good day; here it has been pouring with rain since yesterday evening, and we've had some thunderstorms, too, with more forecast. Hopefully it won't interrupt my internet connection!

thank you kathy, mil is aparently deficient in vit B12 so needs to have 5 injections over next 2 weeks then one every 3 months for the rest of her life! well that what the dr said the reciptionist had other ideas. NO APPTS with nurse till after 12 july so i left no wiser and asked them to ring mil once they had sorted out when she can go in for them. i asked her yesterday and she hasnt had a phone call yet. (we went on friday) also waiting for eye scan, cataracts aparently bad enough to operate on but she has macular degeneration which may be wet so can have something done about it, a scan will say so we are awaiting that appt.
the halogen oven sounds fantastic i thought about one but with being veggie im not too sure what we would cook in it.
i hope all of your emergencies and household disasters are now behind you and everything is sorted.
shaz i hope you had a lovely time in scotland and your mum is alright.
jean so glad you are going back in the sweat shop doing what you enjoy
ive been knitting slippers (found a pattern on the knitters thread) im sure it has a couple of typos in so im going to work through the next one slowly and see where the pattern needs juggling as there is an area that im sure ends up with 2 too many stitches on so on the three ive done i have to juggle it to loose them. but they knit really quick and easy. DD1 has already claimed the first pair for her fellas eldest DD.
hugs and good wishes to allSPC~12 ot 124

Mrs Moneypenny -I hope your MIL can start the injections soon; I've heard that they really do make a difference, so the sooner the better. I hope she doesn't have to wait too long for the scan for her eyes, too.
There are lots of recipes online for vegetarian meals in a halogen oven, so you never know. It would be worth you taking a look at the recipes before you decide whether it's worth buying one. Mine can roast, grill, bake, toast, steam, and even dehydrate. It also has settings for pizza cooking, sterilising, and it can clean itself, too! I haven't tried all the settings yet, but I intend to over time!

MrsMP do hope the GP sorts out her appointments, she will be like a new woman after the injections. OH's Aunty had them and they make such a difference. Its ridiculous nowadays trying to get appointments at doctors. 10 days here for a normal one and a month for a blood test.
Mioliere, I love my halogen, I rarely use my old oven, which is good as its quite old. I find things cook in a third of the time. Bacon is really good done in it and once you sort out your timings you can walk away and listen for the ping, no more hanging around the cooker :j It does fab cheese on toast too. I love the fact it cleans itself, its like a little washing machine
Roamin glad to hear you are back in the sweatshop and getting everything sorted.
Things are quiet here, Hubby naps a lot and we only go out for half an hour or so but thats fine. Still waiting to hear from hospital  but lets face it if they posted a letter it could take days as the post is dreadful. Am keeping busy crafting which is never a bda thing. hugs to all ginnyClearing the junk to travel light

I will get my caravan0 -
Ginnyknit - I'm still experimenting with my halogen oven, so I may well be asking you for some tips! I did cheese on toast yesterday, which was lovely. I haven't yet got the confidence to walk away from it and wait for the ping, though. It looks like the Starship Enterprise when it's on and glowing! Hope you hear from the hospital soon.
