  • Couldnt have put it better myself anakat! Socky have pm's you but dont not post; you have done the right thing and were big enough to admit that you made a mistake and found him a good new home so a well done from me. Hope you feel less overwhelmed today and that the links I sent were of use...
Off to work after a horrendous nights sleep - I had a coke on the way home and think that was prob the culprit. Only have to survive today though and can have a blissful lie in tom!

Shaz - please, please, please don't stop posting. As Anakat has said, no-one will think badly of you; you did exactly the right thing for Jack and for yourself. If it was meant to be, it would have worked out - as it is, you took the responsible decision for everyone. Well done, although it must have hurt. Please stay with us; we're all here for you.

Pippa - thinking of you and your OH.

Well, after a busy evening sorting out paperwork- a bombshell letter arrived from the health insurance company we used to have but got shot of because they took so long to process a small claim, and nearly drove me mad in the process; seems they think we still owe them money even though we gave them the correct period of notice in writing, and even our new insurers informed them, too!). This is so typical of things here in France, and I'm thoroughly sick of it. I can anticipate what will happen; we'll be told we still have to pay then claim it back. We found ourselves in the same position with the internet provider when we first moved over, and I ended up paying for two months for no internet service at all, we weren't even connected, then applying for a refund! It seems the staff and the computers just can't cope with a problem! The red tape saga just goes on and on with no end in sight, it seems.

Anyway, the upshot was that I had to spend time writing letters (which will all have to be sent recorded delivery, otherwise they'll be ignored - very common here!) in French, keeping copies in English, photocopying various documents, and printing it all off. Today, I will have to face the usual disorderly queue in the post office to get them in the post; all that inconvenience and expense because someone hasn't bothered to do their job!

Rant over for the day, hopefully!

I hope to take the afternoon off today; I got a lot done yesterday and wasted my evening last night, so I feel as if I deserve a break from it all! I have to go shopping this morning because we are running out of food. DH has been using my car all week because a friend needed to borrow his van, but I have the car back for the day, so I intend to make the most of it!

Anyway, I'd better go and get ready to hit the shops early in the hope that they'll be quiet!

    A work in progress :D
  • Sharon you really have done the right thing, much better than not doing anything and then having bigger problems.:grouphug:

Yesterday looked for some more wool but didn't find anything suitable:( at a price I was willing to pay. Looked in one charity shop and the new wool was more expensive than Hobbycraft. A small bag of oddments that had been donated which I thought could be used to sew as feature on toys was £1.49 bet it didn't even weigh 25g. They priced themselves out of my market I'm afraid. I did get some ribbon for an angels pocket that I had knitted on the market though so not an entirely wasted trip.

    Hugs to all. x x

knitter-nan - IKWYM happens all the time at some of the charity shops. I get a lot of my wool from a local shop (not a charity one) and 100g DK is £1.19-£1.29 per ball all sorts of colours which I think is a bargain, and the local Wilkinson shop had some at .89p a few weeks ago

Had a look through my UFO's last night and I really must stop this butterflying around and get myself sorted :o

Off to make a :coffee:then get the woolly stuff out for a while OH has fallen asleep on the sofa that will do him good

  • Mrs moneypenny, sending you lots of loving positive thoughts for your dear brother and his family.
Shaz - how can you think we would be so shallow as to castigate you for finding a new home for Jack? You had a problem, you identified it and you dealt with it quickly and efficiently. So please start to post again. No one can place any blame in your direction hon. So can we all get back to what passes as normal in our little world of knit your square?
PippaS result then at getting in and out in rapid time, hang on in there.
Today DH asked if I would make Pork pies for him...........I really don't get the pork pie/Lads thing and never have. So I have spent nearly the whole day knocking him up some porkie pies, they smell great but need to cool down before I can do any adding of stock etc. I also added a chopped up apple to the mix this time around - well when you have a whole mountain of apples and they need to be shifted one or two in a pie won't make much of a dent in the pile! Awake reaction (good or bad or even indifferent - when himsell has tasted them). I also have a heap of French bureaucracy paperwork to deal with, so it is obviously the season for it - oh yes they all went their month long holidays in August, so have to now look as tho' they are really very busy..........ha I know that one so I am not standing for it!
Cuddles and love to everyone, off for a swift cuppa then a rapid march with dogs...........they have become extremely lazy since I wasn't on the case, so we have a new regime.............THEY WILL OBEY.
F1 - DID YOU GET MY LINK TO THE MRS GOGGINS???? COUPLE OF PAGES AGO? Just where are you anyway, haven't seen you in days now, hope your not poorly?
    Later then lovelies - Jean

pippa, hugs for you and your OH too
thanks everyone for your kindness, tho, i dont think i deserve it.
on a positive note, i was a speaker at a conference on teen violence on parents, which was a huge success, with a lot of possitive feedback, and several wanting to arrange further training sessions.
seems empty now being back at home, off up to cuddle my guinea girls in a min, they been a bit ignored while jack was here, as he growled and barked at them, and i couldnt leave him on his own for very long.
miss him loads, but got a lovely text off the lady who now has him, he was very settled last night, he had her other doggie for company, and this morning he ws out playing in the garden with his new friend. glad he s happy and settled, but miss him snuggling up to me when i sit down, if only i could have sat still all day and cuddled him
