Hi everyone - I'm just collecting figures for the updates for the last two weeks, which I have not done simply because I've just not been able to find the time! I'll update those two weeks first, then this week's will be done tomorrow, then I hope to get back to normal!

Thanks for all your kind thoughts for my mum. Having been quite traumatised by the whole cataract procedure when I spoke to her the day after she'd had it done, when I phoned her again yesterday, she sounded so much better which was such a relief, I can tell you! It's still too early to tell just how effective it's been, but the surgeon was very pleased with how it went and has promised her that it will make such a difference to her vision.

Yesterday, we had been invited out to lunch with the people we've been helping lately but, sadly, the husband was unwell so it was cancelled. As it was a horrid day yesterday (having had 42 degrees the day before!), we just poodled around the house and I was at least able to catch up with the ironing and so on. We had a thunderstorm in the afternoon (yes, another one - we've had loads lately!), so I had to unplug everything as usual. I'm getting a bit tired of all that palaver; I have to unplug the PC, the Livebox, and the telephone and, having been badly affected by the last lightning strike, I've become completely paranoid about it!

Well, I'm off to put the kettle on and I will report back here when the update is up to date, or 'mise à jour' as they say in these parts!

tooti re the project someone did a gorgeous one with three strands of wool of different cols and it was gorgeous...wish I had a piccy to share!
ISOM of course you will go to heaven I have no doubts about that xx When you say 3 strands of wool - was it 3 Dk or 4 ply or something like that - if it was chunky it would be quite difficult I would think - I too wish you had a piccie as that sounds interesting and could be very nice - unfortunately i dont think I have enough wool - I had been buying every ball of pinkor purple I found in the charity shops and keeping them for myself and then I got some deep lilac which I thuink is about aran weiht and there is quite a lot so I thought it would be mainly that with some of the other purples thrown in.

chalky can you tell me how you edged the cushion because like you say with an insert they make lovely presents. and you are thinking of journal covers - funnily enough when i was away last week i was admiring a journal that one of the ladies had - it was a sewn one with a patch on the front of a lovely flower that she had got given as a present and i thought it would be nice to do- the cover was hand made and the special watercolour journal put in - and even easier in crochet or knitting as no shaping - ooooooooooooooh please come back soon with the instructions I am getting all excited:rotfl::rotfl:

off to church catch you all later

    toots xx

    Hi everyone!
Hope you have had good Sunday's
I think I am morphing into Jean
I have a "bag for life", full of material and I wanted to tidy it up -- well that actually means use it up!! I hate wasting even the tiniest bit ( Tight or just born after the rationing stopped, I am not sure which!) So, it goes like this -- " Ahh, big bits"-- well shoe bags for the girls for Christmas for their holiday packing! "Medium bits"--- ahhh, bibs -- have to feed the obsessions as you know!! "Smaller bits!" -- Bunting flags-- yes, another obsession. "Smaller bits!" -- Rectangles for my next Patchwork project!
So the machine has been whirring-- Bags, bibs, flags all sewn and rectangles all cut out and ready.
So object achieved big bag empty--- Little bag full of rectangles and an almighty mess with bits of cotton everywhere!!!
    FUNNY TIDYING DOH MUTTERS!!!!

Journals still a work in progress. Got diverted last night by Jonathan Ross and a bit of hooking!!!
    Love to all
Try and do a good deed every day.
  • chalky sounds you've had a really fun productive day

    Hello all!
Been awhile I know and still not properly caught up with all that's been going on.
I now seem to be reliabley connected to the Internet (touch wood) and am reading through as I have a restful day after a couple of days with my sister -- had a great visit but now we are both exhausted (she has M.E. and I atypical fibromyalgia) from the travelling and just being round another person.
Hope that your Mum's recovery goes well Mioliere and that you have good news from the hospital Socky.
Great to see your pics and hear about all your latest makes Chalky!
Love your blanket too psso - any chance you could share the pattern?
Hope that the migraines are finally sorted ISOM

    Hi everyone

Wow, Chalky, slow down, girl! The worst bit about all that activity has to be picking up the bits of cotton afterwards!

Shaz - as Mrs Moneypenny says, don't stop posting just because you can't knit at the moment. Hope the wrist is doing well and that you are finding some time to relax.

Jean - I hope you're resting, too, but I know what you're like!

Maytaurus - you are in my thoughts.

Well, my Mum is a lot better now but I have a FIL who is just recovering from having a third knee replacement in the same leg! He lives in Cyprus and their version of the NHS wouldn't do the op because they say he's too old (82, but still lively!), and he has a pacemaker (which is the only thing keeping him alive, apparently!). Anyway, he decided to go private and has had to pay, believe it or not, £20,000! He will eventually get £10,000 back but that's still a heck of price! He's a bit of a cantankerous old s*d, so now doubt he's proving to be hard work for the nursing staff! Still, the op was a success and he's doing phsyio now.

Anyway, the update for the last two weeks has finally been done. I hope it's right! You can find it by clicking into my name at the side of this post, then going to my 'homepage'. Please let me know if there are any mistakes. I must admit that I've done it in a bit of a rush, but I 'think' that it's OK. I've done right up until midnight last Sunday, and the next update will be up to midnight tonight, if that makes sense!

Will try and pop back later!
