  • Blanket Sizes (approximate) For preemies, blankets without 'holes' are best.
    Small Preemie: 18" - 20" square 45 cm - 50 cm square
    Medium Preemie: 20" - 22" square 50 cm - 56 cm sq
    Large Preemie: 22" - 30" square 55 cm - 75 cm sq
    Full Term Baby: 32" - 36" square 80-90 cm sq
    [FONT=Arial,Helvetica]Baby 30" x 36" = crib sized (6" granny squares= 5 across x 6 down ~ 30 sq)[/FONT]
    [FONT=Arial,Helvetica]Children 42"x 48" (6" squares= 7 across x 8 down ~ 30 sq)[/FONT]
    [FONT=Arial,Helvetica]Lapghan often used in seniors homes 36" x 48" (6" squares= 6 across x 8 down ~ 48 squares)[/FONT]

  • Evening all! Well..um I suspect that I may purchase some wool...looked in depth at the cols she did in her grogeous one and alas, they are not me cols so Im going to see tom whether I can get a few more balls and continue with what I have. I will have to learn the join as you go method though but surely it cant be that difficult!
    Disaster is that ive just had to ring the emergency dentist and now am the proud owner of a-nigh-on-impossible-weekend-appointment for 11:30 tomorrow morning! Alas poor tooths been throbbing (had to take pain killers at 4am this morning) and I now cant press on tooth so say one for me please!
    Well done girlies for finding the pattern...I do like a bit of teamwork!
    Hope all ok F1, Mrs M, May and Miol with poorly people...
    Wondering how Chalky is on her travels! Bet shes having a whale of a time!
    What have people got planned for weekend? I have baysitting tom night (ie pay for wool!) and a baby shower in afternoon...church on Sun all being well but will get it ready just in case so someone can stand in for me!

    roamin, sorry to hear your shopping trip didnt go as planned, i really feel for all of you in france, not being able to buy what you wish to
    confession time, called to see my friend who has the wool stall, he was stock taking, counting all the balls etc, so to make life easier for him, i took a few balls, just to save him having to count them:rotfl:
    i got 3 balls hayfiels aran, in cherry red, for a long cabled cardi for me
    i got 6 assorted balls of sock wool, handy for portable knitting on the go
    20 balls of james c brett cool cotton, 10 in green and ten in a orangy red colour, both for tops for me.
    8 balls baby wool, pink blue, lilac, lemon, mint white and two multi coloureds, all for charity baby cardigans and hats, should keep me busy for a while

  • Alas only managed to rescue one ball of wool and she'll try order the rest...soundy like socky made up for my feeble attempts though!! Tooth been cleaned and temp filled but I suspect its root canal as still v painful so been told tooth probably too far gone :( worst case scenario will be removal which will leave me with 1 back tooth...Going to have a lie down as feeling a bit delicate after 2 lots of anasthetic and also have a numb eye!

    socky, at the moment you are my hero and the person i most want to be like - you have access to wool, you can rescue it and you can knit socks!

  • hi all, hope everyone is as well as can be, miserable foggy and snowing all day today. had a vanilla slice to cheer the day up lol
    isom, hope the pain goes soon, you wont be alone with only one back tooth, thats all i've got left too, (((hugs)))
    never been called a hero before, for rescueing wool, i shall have to do it more often lol m:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
    finished a matinee coat today, just had the bands and sewing up to do, hoping to do the same with a prem cardigan later, and started another one.

    cold and miserable here today, ah well got loads to keep me busy and warm,

    ISOM - hope the tooth is behaving itself and not too painful
    shaz - all that lovely new woolly stuff, how exciting and how kind of you to take it off his hands like that ;)
    jean - thanks for the blanket sizes, I am never quite sure what size to do on some of them so it will come in handy
    kathy - hope things are ok your end, not long now bet you are getting excited :j

    Decided to get the UFO bag out last night and finished off an adult hat, a couple of squares and the hat to go with the christening gown, don't know what I've been playing at they took hardly any time at all.Just have the Diva shawl, a blanket and a jumper for my great-nephew to finish now :o

    Will go post update now, have good days all
