HI everyone - still having a fight with the internet people! I ended up with no phone (it works through the Livebox giving me free calls - part of the deal), so I phoned the helpline; got the phone back on but no internet, because I was told to plug the internet cable into what was obviously the wrong point on the Livebox. I seem to have spent all morning on the helpline, calling them from my other phone on which I DON'T get free calls, so I'm not a happy bunny at the moment. Right now, I've got phone and internet but have no idea for how long!

Will try and pop back later - I'm trying to keep up with you all but France Telecom and Orange, between them, won't let me!

    oh dear-very frustrating miol!
Have had a simular day here waiting to hear when mum should go in for her op only to be rung at 4pm to be told, yet again, they have no beds. Really not impressed as its the second time and mum is feeling quite anxious about it so rung the secretary for a moan - knew it wouldnt make much difference but needed to tell them. Have had a fairly productive day though making hex blanket, about to do some choc muffins and more jewellry-not at the same time! Thank you F1 for the lovely blanket and very lovely card which made me smile - oh so true that "I am woman, I am invincible, I am tired"!!
Socky sorry youre having a tough time of it - hope things look up soon; have you talked to your gp about how youre feeling? just wondering of he could advocate on your behalf with ssd?
    hope others are ok too?
Tomorrow is my first home group locally so am excited about that as been waiting a while for it to start!
May thanks for the email...very poignient!

kathy, how frustrating, i'd be lost without my phone and internet
isom, sorry to their are no hospital beds for your mum, no wonder she is axious. sounds like you've been very busy, knitting, jewellary making and baking, wish i was as organised

on a positive note, i've had a good day in gereral, it was danny's annual review at school, and he is doing really well, not up to the standard they expect for his age, but not doing too bad, an improvement for him. there was a man there from wakefield college, who told us about the courses they have available for those that are a little behind to help them catch up, which sounds really good, and give him a taster of various subjects.
then after the meeting a member of staff from school on the resedential side, invited me to stay for tea, we had shepherds pie and veg followed by a scrummy coconut sponge and custard, feel stuffed now long.
oh and the staff member also gave me a carrier bag of wool, which was nicely appreciated.
so time to chill watch tv and knit with no interruptions, heaven lol
    hugs all

Shaz how annoying, have you got a size bigger needles, might do the trick. But given a carrier bag of wool and tea, that's being spoilt, lucky you. Good news about Daniel. Have a good day.

Isom sorry to hear you're Mum's being messed about by the hospital, hope she's as well as she can be.

mioliere how typical, get your own room at last and internet plays up. Hope you get it sorted.

    Love to everyone xxx

    HI everyone

After having to unplug and reload everything twice this morning, I finally have my internet connection back but I really don't trust it to last! It's been a real pain. Like Shaz, I'm lost without the phone and internet - being so far from the UK, it's a real lifeline.

We are in the middle of finishing off the kitchen so everything is in a real muddle here. TBH, it's really driving me mad - the noise, the interruptions to 'just hold this for a minute' or 'where's my spirit level?' (as if I've been using it!) and so on. The weather is not very good otherwise I'd just take myself out somewhere! We were working until quite late into the evening, too, so my crochet didn't even get picked up.

Anyway, enough of me moaning. Shaz - great news about Daniel!

ISOM - hope something gets sorted out at the hospital for your mum

I hope everyone else is well - I'm so sorry I've not been able to come on here much lately.

Will call back later - as long as I am still connected!

  • Hi ladies:) I too have read the book The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs and I loved it. Then I got her other book called The Friday Night Knitting Club Knit Two, brilliant read. The third book I got is by Ann Hood called The Knitting Circle and it is such a lovely read, so moving, about a knitting circle who meet up and one by one their stories start to come out. One of the loveliest books I have read. I bought all three books on play.com Happy knitting:) Margaret

  • Hi All, Well two floods in two weeks I am seriously considering building the boat! Seems when DH was "fixing" the last leak he JIGGLED the pipework far too much and caused the fracture on the connections through to the dishy washer, well at least it saved me washing the floor in the kitchen, just mop it all up again!! Been busy looking out material for a sewing project and will make a proper start at it all tomorrow when I feel less stung out over it all. Neighbouring farmer is delivering his herd of cows to our fields over the next couple of days, we get them for a month or two while they get to eat up our grass and off course "organicaly" fertilize the fields while they are at it, just gives us all a bit more work too as they need to go "home" for the milking - but that will be once a day and we can all muck in - WELL not my two daft dogs obviously.
I copied and pasted and changed the font on Dawns post so I could read it easier, but like you Shaz found it a bit of a squiint. Away for a cuppa then a bit of knitting and quiet time tonight. Cuddles to you all, am thinking seriously about the secret santa....postage from France to Uk is not exactly cheap but will mull it over for a couple of days and let you know.
