    e-mail below from Elaine's daughter

Just letting you know mum had her opp yesterday afternoon. Everything went well and she came off the ventilator last night. Doctors are happy about it, she hasn't required any supporting drugs after it. So all is looking good, although she told my sister she feels like she's been hit by a truck !

Continuing to hold her in my thoughts and prayers

That is such brilliant news. I bet she does feel like that but hopefully all will be well and she will soon start her road to recovery.

well I never cease to be absolutely touched by the generosity of the chums on this thread.
We have been really hectic since getting home but managed to get a few hedgies finished for the Wildlife Centre but I was feeling a lit overwhelmed. But no more. Yesterday a parcel arrived from Psso. Elaine must have sent it so her last job before going into hospital. What a sweet, generous thing to do.
And then this morning the postie knocked and there was another parcel from Mrs Moneypenny.
Thank you so much. I am so grateful. And very touched xxxxx

My heart has felt heavy of late poor William seems to believe this is how life is always going to be! I expect he has forgotten his other life. It is very hot there now and apparently his cast is stinking! Bless his little heart and his Mummy and Daddy too. My son said last night they are worried it's actually changed his personality. I just lie awake at night thinking of them all. However, we did have a Skype today and played hide and seek on the IPad. He loves it when grandad hides and then we go and search for him with the IPad.
X-ray next Wednesday and hopefully cast off a week this Saturday. He has to have another anaesethic as he would not cope with it being cut off.

    Sorry to share the load!!!

So, as you can imagine we are very much looking forward to seeing Pippa and her Doh. Can't wait. I just wish I had finished a few more of the blankets that Mrs Twins sent me. some were a challenge and a half and I kept giving up in despair. Never mind they will get done! But I shall miss the courier service and meet ups.

Well I send love to you all.

  • I am sure that William will forget all about the whole incident when he is up and running around creating works of art, baking cakes and generally being a little boy again.

    Hi everyone

Jean, thanks for the update on Elaine; that's wonderful news, even if she does feel a bit uncomfortable at the moment. It will all be worth it.

Chalky - I can understand how worried you must all be about how William is coping with being in a cast, but I am absolutely sure it won't have changed his personality permanently. Children don't remember much from before they turn four years old. I bet he will bounce straight back and be even more full of beans once he is free. Love to you all. At least as each day goes by, it's one day less to wait. Don't worry about sharing the load; it's what we are all here for.

Shaz - good luck with your knee problem.

Jean - I have been gathering information for the dreaded tax return which, this year, has to be filed a week earlier than usual, for some very French reason! Sorting all the paperwork out prompted me to spend the day catching up on the filing - why do I let it get out of hand?!

Chalky and Pippa - have a wonderful time together tomorrow; I bet neither of you can wait!

Ginnknit - your jelly babies sound fascinating!

Mrs Moneypenny - thanks for posting Gingertigers post.

Well, not much done this week; the holiday home owners did the final signing away of their lovely house, so that's the end of an era for us as well as them. We now have two beautiful sofas and a lovely eight-seater dining table and chairs stored in our barn to sell for them, hopefully.

I haven't done the update yet, but will try and catch up with that tomorrow.

Woolly-wise, I made a mandala last night to use up some little scraps of wool, and also carried on with the last blanket I can probably get done before I run out of wool. We hope to go back to the UK for a visit on or about 22nd May, so I shall be hitting the wool shop first thing on the 23rd!

Jean, when you next hear from Elaine's daughter, please ask her to send her Mum a hug.

Oh, and if Maytaurus is online, Happy Birthday to you. My online e-card website reminded me that it was your birthday today. I hope it was as good as can be.

Love and hugs to you all.

Chalky, William wont remember a thing, you know. Its just a time when he was baffled by what was going on and much much worse for you and the family. Somedays my heart absolutely aches for things Dgs has to go through and usually Im 5 minutes away - you dont need reminding of the distance you are apart but thats the problem. Im sure a day or so after the cast has gone it will be as if it never happened. Thank goodness for skype because you will be a witness to him being his old self and the worry will have gone from his Mummy and Daddys faces too.

Ooh Kathy walk away from those mandela's, they are totally addictive :rotfl: I will pop some jelly baby pics on my blog when they are all stuffed - they has belly buttons you know.

Roamin, its good to have news of Psso, she is doing well isnt she?

Hubby hs been sent to the spare room to sort out his junk - expensive fishing gear - and am hoping there will be room in the car for my stuff, essentials, me ! I cant moan though cos he bought me a camera and lens today - the old fashioned type that take film - I collect them and this was the one I longed for when I was a proffessional photographer.

Oh well its pouring down here but its going to be nice from Sunday, I have decided this :D

Thank you all for your continued kindness and support. Xxxx [jean[/I]love that song I will sing it to William if all is on course for the removal after the xray.

Ginny I can't wait for that day. I am sure you are right

Kathyi am sure you are right . Of course at the moment they are worried because all he wants to do is watch the T.V ,children's films etc. But as all he can do is lie flat on his back and it will have been 7 weeks I don't know what else they could have done. Of course they have done other things as well but it must seem endless. As you say all will be well once he is up and moving again.
I am so glad a trip home is on the cards. Mum will get the biggest hug I know and the wool shop will be the best xxx

Well Pippa is on her way and I have been cooking so all on course xx

    Make it count !

Chalky/Pippa - if there is cake left I expect to see it arrive here in a jiffy bag marked NO COMMERCIAL VALUE! You could duet the song - just to try it out - WITH ACTIONS..

Miolliere - French Tax is done in this house all year round ON THE HOME MADE SPREADY SHEET........ it takes about 5 minutes max to fill in their on line return. I used to get so worked up decided it was much easier my way.

OK off to do something exciting - walk the dogs - have a coffee and generally get in DH'S WAY... he he

    Hi Jean

DH is a registered auto-entrepreneur, which involves all sorts of red tape. It also seems to trigger off lots of scams letters that come through the post throughout the year, which all have to be weeded out. It's a lot easier now that he has been going for a few years. We have an accountant in the Mayenne who does the tax return for us both; he charges €175 for it, and is there on the end of the phone to answer any questions we may have. The list of information that we have to supply gets longer every year, too, which doesn't help. The accountant gives me the peace of mind of knowing that the return has been done properly. You hear all sorts of horror stories from people who didn't really know what they should be doing because no one tells you. For instance, there was a chap who earned €6,000 for a one-off job. He submitted his cotisations for the trimestiere on that amount, and the powers that be then sent him a huge tax bill, because they multiplied that amount by twelve (for the year). He explained that it was a one-off, and they said he should have broken down the €6,000 over the year, not declared it in one go. It took him ages and a lot of hassle and pleading before they would change it. €175 a year gives me peace of mind! Only in France, eh?!

Have to go out now but will try and get the update done this afternoon.

    Have a good day, everyone.
