Just listened to a guy on the radio recommending the use of a secure delete programme to prevent people accessing your bank details etc. I came across this one. Has anyone used it?

I thought I had..
If you are cleaning history and temp files, try the 1st 3 one after the other.
If you are wiping a hard disk before selling/disposing of it, I'd use cbl data shredder.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
What are the system requirements for any of the Data shredder zip files you've posted? Same thing for the browsertools exe.
Come on albertross, you should know better than posting links like this in an open forum. This has been discussed before, and ruled against by the site team. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

You've provided no information, or any way of checking what the system requirements are for the zip files, same for for the exe. This is bad practice (aside from, it's bad security practice downloading an exe or zip file from an open forum).
What OSes are these for? Who are the company behind the downloads? This is basic information everyone should know before installing something on their computer. By posting the exe or zip files you don't give anyone the chance to check out the programs before they download and install. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

There is a thing called google if they want further info..
They are links to software I use, and have therefore checked out. The links to CBL zip files are provided for people to bypass the registration screen. The zip files contain pdf's with instructions. The dos and iso ones are dos.., the rest are windows.
The post was intended to help people.. if people don't trust me, then don't click on the links. People take a risk when they click on any link on the internet, so why is the forum special?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Albatrss, thanks a lot for your help. I didn't realise I was causing problems and most of that went over my head.0

You didn't cause any problem, Rex appears to be a stickler for the rules.. and I committed the evil sin of putting a link to an exe amongst some of the other links. I shall now go and hang my head in shame.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

It's not about being a stickler for the rules. Posting exes and the like has been discussed before on this very board. The forum team have posted themselves asking for these not to be posted. This makes sense. It makes sense to let people check out what they are downloading because of different system requirements. It also makes sense to check out the source of a download before you install anything on your computer, this is very basic computer sense.
People of all levels of computer savvy look in on this site. They are not all aware of the possible implications of just downloading anything posted on an open forum (viruses have been posted on this site before masquerading as a useful program). It should at a minimum, be a responsibility of those of us that know better, to try to steer people correctly and not teach them or encourage what is basically very bad practice. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?
