it doesn't solve the problem of not having a phone but could you put your sim card in someone elses phone just to get your numbers and textsI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. bloody carphone warehouse i am so annoyed so apologies for the rant
my phone that i got in april (pink motorola l6) has started randomly switching off. i took it back to shop wednesday and they said they would fix it.
1) it is meant to be an express repair when they fix it same day
2) it wouldnt be ready until lunchtime next day
so i picked it up. apparently the software needed upgraded and it fixed now but low and behold it has the same problem but worse than before.
so back i trapse to carphone warehouse.
oh its a manufacturers fault they said. has to be sent back to manufacturer which can take over a month.
ok well can i havea loan phone? oh there is none left said the mighty warehouse. so i told them i had insurance out and i was entitled to one and they said do u not have one at home and i not being an avid collector of mobiles do not. so they told me i could keep my sim card. i asked them how to make calls on a simcard without a phone and they said you couldnt so i asked what was the point of keeping the sim card. i was met with stunned silence.
3) what the hell am i meant to do without a phone for a month
4) oh look we have founda loan phone magically was just sitting here under desk and appeared after customer made a fuss. please charge it they said and if you dont bring it back in one piece we will cahrge you £50. how polite
5) i get the loan phone home. IT DOESNT BLOODY WORK
6) to phone the store is an 0870 number. saynoto0870 doesnt list their number and when u ring it rings off. i cant dial this number from work as it will show on phone bill so my mum has been trrying for ten minutes now.
7) i dont have anyones number as its all on my simcard so i cannot arragne transport home from work (bus for me, then walk in the rain)if my firend texts me to cancel our meeting tonight i will have a long wait in the rain outside city hall.
8)sorry for ranting. any advice appreciated0 -
Same thing has happened to my friend but she went through Orange...she had a Nokia that was sending out text to random numbers on her phone....when she was working....(phone secure in locker)! Told Orange who at first promised her a replacement phone of her choice...great you would think, then when she rang back with her "choice" was told now that she would have to pay an "upgrade" charge. She was told to take the phone to CPW as they didn't do repairs on Nokias, then CPW told her that there was a software problem, virus..duh,gave it back apparently fixed, she tried to use it and it was still broken!! She has rung Orange again, who have now no notes on the incidence or even offering her a phone and had the cheek to ask her who she spoke to last time and what the extension number was! Then after not helping her at all, asked...."Is there anything else?"
She is at her wits end and is on an 18month contract and on her 12th month, been with them for 10 years....(!), and has told them that she will go on the lowest tarrif....sounds unfair and awful....sounds like it's pot luck as to whether you get a sympathetic cs or not... think she might take note and do a mini demonstration too...not sure where the orange head office are though.0
