Thats moronic! Do traffic rules not apply to you? I nearly knocked one over the other day who was doing that. Guess whose fault it would have been?

    Cheers

No problem with that. What judge wouldn't believe the cyclist hadn't stopped?

If im on my bike and its red at a x-roads, i often jump off and become a pedestrian to cross, then jump back on my bike once over the crossing- perfectly legal.
Some lights are on infra-red sensors and change with traffic. There are some that i go through on my bike at 5:30am that dont detect me on my bike and i could wait 10mins for a car to come and change the lights for me, so i go over anyway whilst looking for cars crossing the other way. Is that illegal too?

It should be compulsory for cyclists to have insurance. They can cause accidents and damage to other road users too!
...and most actually do via Bike insurance or other policies that cover them for accidental damage...but I can bet that 99.99% of claims with bicycles in the incident report are because cars have ignored them as legal road users, probably being too busy on the phone or drinking a coffee to pay attention

So only 0.01% of accidents are caused by cyclists then.
Probably those motorists going through lights on green that cause the rest then.

I'd actually be surprised if it was even that, but didnt want to go to hundrends and thousands of a percent  how many cyclists do you see speeding/tailgating/overtaking on a blind corner...you get my point!

    Speeding, yes,
tailgating, if you count hanging onto cars and vans, yes,
I don't think I've ever seen one overtake, they usually try to undertake when I'm turning keft though.

That will probably because you've not indicated to turn left then?!

They're pretty much all on hall effect sensors in the road, they detect a mass of conductive material passing over them, which creates a small magnetic field and tells the lights a car is approaching.

They don't detect cyclists at all because bikes are too small and many are made of lightweight metals/alloys.

Your right, very little you can do except cross on red or get off and walk :(

No, it's because I'll still be indicating right from just having overtaken him no doubt.

Still, so long as he has insurance in case he scratches the car, I don't mind either way.

as a cyclist it annoys me when cyclists go through red lights, annoys me more when they don't have a crash helmet on too!
I am gobsmacked, thank you well done a sensible cyclist at last. Now what really annoys me is when I am at lights and clearly indicating to turn left and a cyclist comes alongside with the intention of going straight on then gets upset as I turn, what did the think that orange flashing light on the left hand side was for? to indicate which side they could stop on.
