Its about helping people get their entitlement! Not about benefits policy!

NASA has probably seen a few posts where people are trying to scam the system and made assumptions based on that.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked
50p saver #40 £20 banked
Virtual sealed pot #178 £80.250 -
I think some of what the OP said may have been taken more seriously had they been a regular contributor to the forum.I have a long held concern that some post by some people may put the genuine off asking genuine questions. But we must never lose sight of the fact that alot of people give their time willingly to try and help others thru the minefield that is the benefits system and long may that continue.0

MSE isnt about people getting their benefit entitlements and hasnt been since I have been a member.
The majority of people are scammers.
We do see quite a few fraudsters and they normally get what they deserve but we also get people who dont have a clue and need help to understand the benefits system and they are given useful information to help them.
I dont give scammers the lickings of a dog, nor the lazy work shy and Im disgusted by the people who want to make an inheratance disappear to keep them entitled to means tested and the such like(which is to mind bizaar) but I do feel that everyday people on this board do help some people who genuinely need help.0 -

That's laughable !You have been a member of MSE for over three years. In that time you have posted on the Benefits board sixteen times, so approximately once every two months. If you wish to change the ethos of the board, or what you perceive the ethos of the board to be, why not actually contribute something, rather than just moaning about it?
Just because they haven't posted much doesn't mean that their opinion is less valued than anyone else's - I am not saying the OP is right but I have noticed lots of posters who regularly 'contribute' talk total claptrap !I think some of what the OP said may have been taken more seriously had they been a regular contributor to the forum.
See above !
I cannot believe that a forum set up to help everybody with their economic lives be it debt, mortgages etc etc is turning into this huge judgemental entity. Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.0 -

Did I say it was not? Though their opinion is as valued as that of anybody else, I cannot see how it can be as valid as many of the much more regular posters. Someone who posts so rarely is very unlikely to have a true picture of the board.Gone ... or have I?0 -

I dont believe for one minute that it is,and more regular contributors/visitors would also i`m sure see this(certainly not this board anyway)
I also really dont see the point of anyone furthering this discussion,as thats what it is,its not a benefits question and is about to become irrelevant.0 -

Because the only way of 'contributing' is posting and if they have a greater knowledge of the subject then their opinion is more valid.
As I put earlier, just because one 'contributes' doesn't mean you are talking sense.:D
I've used this website for many years and only registered to post about 3 years ago but I have noticed that as it has grown, those who want to criticise seem to be getting louder which was not how it used to be.Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.0 -

Again, you are not actually reading what I have written. Please feel free to quote where I have stated that having a greater knowledge makes an opinion more valid?Gone ... or have I?0 -

Probably because there are more people now who are trying to find ways of getting round the system. This is something that has been commented on on other boards as well as this one.0 -

Agree. This is one reason why I do not post very often now.0
