The battery life is poor. She needs to charge a couple of times a day.
Now, she's downloaded a ringtone from play.com . Play say it has been sent, but she has no idea where it has gone. She put in the right number - does this arrive as a text or does it automatically get put somewhere on the phone? It's not in ringtones.
See these links to improve battery life http://desireuser.blogspot.com/2010/04/how-to-get-longer-battery-life-on-htc.html

Cheers. That could be useful to her
I think she may have made a mistake with the play.com download - she hasn't received anything but it is downloading something yet she has no idea what it is that is downloading. It doesn't say what it is anywhere

Noooooo, Tesco Locator is good for sending a bloke to the supermarket for a specific item. Instead of them ringing you claiming the item does not exist, the locator tells them which aisle and which shelf. Ergo more time in the pub. :beer:Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
Open the internet browser on the desire from the home screen, then press the menu button, then on the screen in the bottom left you will get a pop up box with various options, press the one saying "more..." then you will get another pop up screen with many options, in that scroll down the list and you will find downloads, then click that, that should show the downloads. Ask her to read the online manual mentioned on HTC website and linked earlier in this thread. The manual can also be found on the SD card or you can download it to your computer fromHTC website.Cheers. That could be useful to her

Thanks for the manual link - only got a quick start guide with the phone.
The manual should be on the 4GB micro SD card which came with the phone as a pdf file, so you always have the manual with you when you have the phone. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

Thanks! Just to confuse you I actually use Opera on both my laptop and iPhone!
Having problems with Google crashing Firefox, literally every time I use it. But my dad still uses Firefox and is looking at a smartphone so will let him know. I have recommended an HTC/ Android as I am not the blinkered fanatic us Apple users are often accused of being.

See if I want to buy an app, do I have to use CC on google checkout? Flatmate has another Android phone and she says it just gets debited to her bill. Can't be bothered to breakout out the plastic for $2.99 (which they'll probably charge 40p or whatever for the currency)
edit: I'm Vodaphone she's 30 -
In case another newbie repeats the mistake I made
If you use a usb cable to connect to your PC and dowmload a file to the phone you need to remove the cable before you can find the file on the phone using Astro or any other file manager.
Really like the phone though Only one gripe my Nokia OVI Maps were stored on the phone ideal for use abroad - no data charges.
Any way I can do that on the Desire ?TANSTAAFL !0
