HTC Desire - Apps Nightmare
Options
Okay, so my friend has this phone now and is slowly getting used to it, but has no idea if apps are being downloaded. She clicks install and it says it will be downloaded, but has no idea when or if it has
Can anyone recommend some good apps as well or a site explaining them? She's tried the twitter app and has no idea if it's worked and she's getting frustrated

When she accesses the Market on her phone there is a "downloads" button, press that and she can see what she has downloaded.
There are a lot of apps so it depends what she is after, but I have a couple of games and ASTRO file manager, RAC traffic, Trippo Mondo translator, Tesco Locator and Advanced Task Killer to name but a few.
I see the beebplayer has been discontinued as iplayer support should be part of the next version of Android.0 -
if you pull the screen down at the top left bit it shows there it has installed and its either in the widget bit or the apps bit on the + button
Try appbrain and then download it on your phone0 -
Thanks for that.
She's downloading a twitter app and it says 'starting download' and currently downloading - do these take a while? She pressed it about half an hour ago.
She just wants the best twitter/facebook apps to start with and then she will expand from there.0 -
They should only take seconds to download.
I tend to download most of mine over Wi-fi but even when I haven't they have been pretty fast0 -
If she clicks the menu button at the bottoim left of the screen, that should take her to all her regular stuff, (where you find the marketplace) and anything downloaded will be in there as well0

She's downloading via her data allowance on O2 - no wi-fi in her house.0 -
if its o2, very possible she doesn't have a 3g signal. Downloading an app over 2g will take a while.0
-
Apparently according to the chap at HTC, she has an 'H' signal, which is the next thing being phased in and meant to be better than 3g
"HSDPA, which is effectively 3.5G"0 -
o2 "phased in" their HSPDA in 2007 so it has been around for a while, and it is fast so it should take very little time for her to download stuff.0
-
No idea why it's taking so long then
She's leaving it running in the background and is going to give up soon as she's working out Twitter as it is on the phone, without the additional app so thinks she may not need it as it won't add anything new maybe...
