New cars dont take 3 months to arrive though unless they all ordered made to order cars!!!
I purchased a new car in 2003 and it took 1.5 weeks.
when has the average UK new car sale ever taken 3 months? you are thinking of the Land registry.:D
Even in this technological age is does take time for ships to travel from the Far East.
Travel time from Japan for example is at the quickest 2 months.0 -

But the figures are still higher no matter how long they take to get to england.
They are in this country to have now been sold and registered so even if you knock out the scrappage cars for this month they are still 10.3% higher.;)
It is very rare the car you have ordered is fresh off a boat and not UK stock.
I think we are muddling built to order and standard specs here. The vast majority of cars ordered are standard spec or are ones dealers can upgrade not built to order.0 -

The wait can be some time. Seriously.
Dad is currently looking at a Qashqai. Delivery is roughly 2 months after order. The sales guy stated so.
That's just one car. But people do wait far longer than a week in many many cases.
I'm sure the average time is 8-12 weeks? Something like that anyway.0 -

Does it matter really that much.
Can we not all agree that these are all cars sold last month and that only just over 4000 were left over from scrappage.????
My work friend has a non standard Focus RS (10 plate) and it took less than 2 weeks.
So sorry I wont accept the average UK car sale takes 2-3 months to complete.0 -

But it does now
Broadspeed:
A new car factory order is brand new, factory fresh, built to your exact personla specification - and the latest of everything. If you can wait 8-12 weeks (models vary on lead time), the factory order usually gets the exact car at the best price (because the dealer doesn't have to finance stock - you pay as soon as it arrives).
And a quick google search bought up 4 car type forums, with the waiting times on, going from 4 weeks to 4 months.
