It strikes me that there are two separate issues here:
1. Sufficient signal strength on the right frequencies for the freeview channels in your location.
2. Is the freeview software installed and running correctly on your laptop? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Not really...
Say I bought this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Indoor-Digital-Freeview-Picture-Frame-TV-Aerial_W0QQitemZ300019250071QQihZ020QQcategoryZ73383QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Or this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Aerial-Antenna-for-Digital-Freeview-and-Indoor-TVs_W0QQitemZ300021958324QQihZ020QQcategoryZ101365QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Do you think it would make much of a difference..?0 -
albertross wrote:no,
you could buy an under the tv freeview box for that price..
Yes but I want Freeview on my laptop lol..0 -
albertross wrote:Yes, but there's no point buying random things off ebay (I suspect that a picture frame with an aerial built-in is going to be useless for freeview, and also analogue TV).
The fact is that freeview needs a good signal, from a wideband aerial on the roof/loft usually. If the aerial you already have doesn't work, it is highly unlikely you are going to be able to buy an aerial designed for the living room/bedroom which is going to be able to provide a better signal than the one you already have.
The only way around this is to diagnose step by step. Which is test the aerial you already have to make sure there is a freeview signal coming down that lead (with an under the TV freeview box).
If that works move on to diagnosing why your usb gadgets don't work.
Okay fair enough, I'll buy a Freeview box, just wondering do I already have everything needed to set it up or would I need to buy something else?
Also would you be willing to help me throughout this (you have so far)0 -

The other option is to take your laptop and usb stuff to another house with freeview, and plug it into their aerial and see if it works. How about your neighbour..?
So we're trying to find out whether the freeview stick is working?0 -
albertross wrote:yes....
Didn't you say you had freeview working previously?
Yes I had Freeview on my tv previously but I sold the box on ebay after I had no more uselol now I want it for the laptop.0
